my dad is a guitarist, he doesn't smoke pot. he doesn't drink either. and nirvans aren't very good musicians but they got famous anyway, kinda like green day. it gives hope to those of us who suck. we can still hit the big time some day. people will like us for our lack of talent.

oh yes, the point of the post. i don't really play guitar, i play bass. there are just too many teeny tiny strings on the guitar. and its just all high pitched and wussy compared to the bass. i am only kidding i would love to learn to play guitar, just so i could write music better. but i love the bass. i play a couple peavey's cuz they were cheap. and i have a rogue acoustic cuz it was cheap also.

A lot of great musicians aren't great players...tying into another thread, neither Dylan or Young are that good.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Nirvana. Kurt was a gifted songwriter. He wasn't a good guitarist, and with what i am trying to do now, a better background in theory would help me tremendously. I am just now making up for what i missed out on years ago.

i have a Di Giorgio Acustic Guitar (Di Giorgio is a excellent brazillian intrument maker) i can play little tunes like happy birthday and some other lame songs. I have no musical talent. I just like music. But if i could play something it would be organ or a kick ass bass guitar. And i have a friend that plays guitar awsome and he is totally anti-weed, he plays with a band at his church.

Wow, what a cool friggin' thread. I love this forum.

I wouldn't exactly call me a guitarist, but I'm capable of playing one. I'm a bassman myself. I have a 5-string Ibanez Ergodyne. I've been playing for 3 years to the day in 3 days. I want to say I'm self-taught, but I basically learned how to play by listening to the likes of P-Nut of 311, Cliff Burton of Metallica, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Les Claypool of Primus. I used to listen closely and play for hours on end, trying my damndest to play their stuff. Eventually, I got most of those band's songs down. I've even watched footage of them playing live, and studied it.

People tell me I'm the best bassist they've ever heard, but I know I'm nowhere's near that amazing. Better than an amateur, but I've still got a long ways to go before I can even think I'm that outstanding.

Weedchiller - My guitarist Jeremy has never so much as inhaled cigarette smoke before in his life. Good, upright kid. Excellent palm-muter/shredder. He's a Dimebag Darrel freak, and I can't say I blame him.

I've been playing the guitar for a few years on and off, but I'm terrible still. That's okay, though, because I'm a bassist, and I just mess around on the guitar for fun. I've been playing the bass for less than a year, and I'm not that great, but I love it!

My bass is a crappy Washburn XB100 but it looks cool. I've been borrowing a friend's Peavey Milestone II (I think) and I like that one a lot, it feels so sturdy and stuff. My guitar is a Fender Mexican Strat w/ a maple fretboard, which I dig a lot. I used to have a loud, clear Crafter acoustic that was so much fun to play.

The bass that I'd love to have is an Ibanez Ergodyne EDB600 (I think), it is so easy to play and comfortable. What a fun bass

Music is great.

I used to play guitar for about 4 1/2 years. I still have a Fender Stratocaster/Squire, with a little Traynor Amp...I've been playing the drums for the past 5 1/2+ years though.

My father has been playing guitar for 40 years, as well as playing many other instruments (and has been smoking marijuana for over 37 years (1965.) My mother has also been playing guitar for over 30 years. You could say I come from a musical family

May I just say I believe Kirk Hammett to be the number one guitarist of all time, I have been listening to Metallica for over 10 years, and he astounds me. Fastest solo ever: Dyer's Eve. Any faster and it would be one solid tone.

Peace all, I'm stoned.
