| I have not liked a lot of the new hard rock that has coem out and have been listening to all kinds of music now. With a much more 'open' mnd, I found that I like a lot of different kinds of music. A friend opened me up to 311 (some punk and reggea influences are obvious), greenday, and a few others with punk or reggea influences. I really like this kinda music. Does anyone know any good reggea or punk bands that are worth a listen? | |

| Reggae-Bob Marley, you can never go wrong with Bob. Punk-I only like the good old punk bands. The Sex Pisto0ls, the Clash, Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Thats a good start.

| you sound like me 2 years ago. I hated all the crap on the radio and MTV and a friend sorta got me hooked on punk, while listening to my absolute favorite band "sublime" turned me onto regea. PUNK BANDS: NOFX (the absolute best band ever, second to sublime) Dropkick Murpheys Rancid Misfits System of a Down Reggea: Bob Marley (comercial, but still the king of all reggea.) N*SYNC (Wait a minute-they suck, looser pop. never mind) Cutty Ranks Barrington Levy (check out 'under mi sensi' its a cool song of ganja over cocaine) Sublime has to be the best band ever because Bradley Nowell (RIP) skillfully mixed dub, rap, hip hop, reggea, punk, folk, and ever other type of music into one very smooth style. Indescribable. The Kurt Kobain of his style, only better. and nobody can match his style, not even the band of the other former sublimers (eric, bud) Long Beach Dub Allstars For better music check out your local punk scene. Invariably you wont find good punk music that is commercial, because it goes against punk ideals. thats what makes NOFX great, they avoid comercialism at any cost. I used to live in Brea, which is in orange county in california. Every now and then I would take a trip to go surfing (by every now and then i mean every day pretty much) and check out the local punk scene there. Bar none, Long Beach has the best punk scene anywhere. Its like the seattle of the grunge movement

| by the way, before i got turned onto punk, i listened to (but didnt like it much) KISS.FM which plays the worst soft rock songs. The reason commercial songs always suck is they employ cheap hooks to make a song sound good, and make it stick in your head, but really doesnt say much or contain any real art. |

| PUNK: Don't ever forget Bad Religion, god i love Bad Religion. I'd also recommend Afi, Pennywise, Strung out, and Anti-Flag. NOFX is also one of my faves but someone already mentioned them.

| Punk: I like Ramones a little bit, i might even listen to a tune or 2 from Blink but most of it is crap. Punk is not really my cup of tea. Reggae: Anything from Bob Marley, Yellowman, Peter Tosh...If you like ska check out No Doubt

| Asfar as Bob goes, anything, really. I have never heard a Bob Marley tune that i didn't like. "No Woman, No Cry," is a classic though. The Sex Pistols-Pretty Vacant, Anarchy in the UK, just the enire Nevermind the Bullocks album. If I'm not mistaken that was their only studio album. I'm high now though, so its difficult to remember. |

| don't forget Peter Tosh, as far as reggae goes, he's incredible. For punk, go old school, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, the Ramones, the Clash, the Sex Pistols. Actually, that's the only punk I really care for, so there it is ![]()
