Hey,
Does anyone else here like to write music when they're stoned? I've found that being in altered states allows me to take the harmonies I hear in my head and express them through music easier. Relationships between instruments and the song as a whole become more clear as well, so you can hear themes that wouldn't be apparent sober...

That last one isn't finished yet... I have it planned out to be four minutes twenty seconds long when it's done. [edit]As I add more to it, I will update it periodically. The newest part is when the beat picks up again there is the sound of a telephone dialing 420 twice before it goes back into the melody...[/edit]

I'm not that bad at writing music, but I never like any of the lyrics I write... Unless I'm stoned. The only good stuff I've ever written, I did it while stoned. What sucks is that I totally suck at guitar when I'm stoned, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY!? My friend who is a stoner and plays guitar says he can only play when he is high, and when I go over there to play guitar with him, we get stoned, and then I just get angry cause it's then that I start to suck...

Oh well, personally, I think it is because I don't get stoned and play guitar enough (I live with my parents, so I don't get stoned at the house, and that is where my guitar is...)

Oh, anyway, YES, I think weed makes me more creative, hence the non-crappy lyrics...

I usually write songs when I'm high and I know i play better when I'm high. Or at least it is easier in a band situation to listen to whole band and not just myself. I've written a few good tunes recently. One that I'm particularly proud of is called "Marion County Jail." Its about getting arrested. And I have all these half written lyrics because one thing I never do is a force lyric if nothing is coming because thats a good way to make it suck. Sometimes its best to walk away from something and come back with a fresh viewpoint.

whoa cool, i actually picked out the dialing of 420 near the end of the second song, very subtle, good idea though. Did you use fruity loops to make that or what?

the animation of the guy at http://www.zinn-x.com/ looks really trippy, stared at it for about 5 minutes and concluded he is saying "I AM" or "BAH HAH"!!

I don't write much music when I'm high but my cousin does and he says it helps him come up with some pretty interesting stuff. I've done it a couple times while I'm at a friend's house or something and just jamming around or something. A lot of times when I'm playing or trying to write when I'm too stoned I'll forget what I'm tryin to accomplish and just give up.

and some of your local record shops jazz section
