Like so many polls... I couldn't really choose a position... I do smoke, and I don't mind people playing Bob Marley. I like Reggae ok in general - but Bob Marley isn't my favorite. [Please don't throw things, ok?! ]

So... cast my vote for 'smokes and doesn't turn off Bob Marley if it happens to be playing'

i am, without a doubt, a stoner...

me and my buds usually listen to marley during our sessions, but...we still listen to him when we're not stoned too. it's good music all the time, but...waaaaaay better when stoned.

This is what i would put on a cd off the top of my head *which isnt much, lol*

-Red Red Wine
-War
-Get Up,Stand Up (i remember this one,and someone mentioned it above)
-I Shot The Sheriff
-3 Little Birds (someone above mentioned this,i should check it out)
All these songs are great, except for one thing. Bob Marley didn't write Red Red Wine. That was a song done in late 80s, early 90s by the white band UB40. One song to look for, So much things to say off the Exodus cd. All his songs are amazing. Just pick everyone of his cds.

Well... Since Marley died in 1981, and you say the song was done in the late 80's early 90's then your wrong. The White Band UB40 probably got it from Marley since they made it after his death. There are many songs other bands made of Marley. Sublime did many of them like Two Joints and Trenchtown Rock.

I realize many bands cover Marley's songs. The thing is, Smoke Two Joints is not a Marley song either. Go to Bob Marley's website and take a look. They have listed all songs Bob has done, whether it was recorded or not. Red Red Wine and Smoke Two Joints were never written by Bob Marley. Red Red Wine is a UB40 song, and it is not a cover. Go to the Sublime website, and look under covers. Smoke Two Joints is not in there.

Ok. I just checked the UB40 website and we are both wrong. Red Red Wine is a Neil Diamond song. Also, Marley's website does not have all songs listed like I thought. However, I know Smoke Two Joints was not written by Marley. Listen to the Thank You song at the end of 40oz. They thank someone for this, but it was not Marley. Sorry about all that.

Alright, I double checked again, and I have some new info. Smoke 2 Joints is a cover, but not Bob Marley. It is The Toyes who originally wrote this song. Go to www.skunk.com and look under the covers section, it is listed near the bottom(in alpha. order). Also, look at www.google.com and put in UB40. Find official website, look under songs and bring up Red Red Wine. It clearly shows written by: Neil Diamond. I don't know if you know who this guy is, but he did Coming to America, Turn on your Heartlight. He's basically real soft rock. Also, I'm not trying to be an ass or start an argument. I was just trying to let you know Marley didn't write those two songs.

I like Bob Marley, and appreciate what he's done both politically and musically, but I don't feel any of the voting categories include me. I don't own his albums or seek out his music. There was a time when I was kind of into it, but it now seems like a stoner initiation thing, as well. I'm sure everyone within a few months of first smoking pot gets exposed to his music. Like Anarchist Barbie said, I won't turn it off if it's on.

No problem. Again, I'm sorry if I sounded like an ass, not my intention. Like you said, just some clearing up. By the way, I like your sig. Did you happen to see Sinead O'Connor cover this song on Saturday Night Live when she tore up the picture of the Pope?
