Default whats everyone have against TECHNO?

I think techno is the best kind of music to listen to when im stoned. Everyone just thinks its gay cause they associate it with freaks and weirdos. Get high, give it a chance, itl meZmeriZe you. Add some winamp vids like whitecaps or something similar and learn to glowstick cause once ur good its badass(it takes time). Im a prep and most wouldnt think I would listen to techno or glowstick but I do. GIVE IT A CHANCE! Its****** awesome.

I don't like it because it isn't even music to me... it has no theory involved and isn't jamming or anything, just a bunch of noises looped together.

Probably is fun to listen to, but I can't get past the first 2 minutes

Bongzilla, I used to feel the exact same way.

But I finally had to admit to myself that music isn't theory and/or off the cuff jamming. Jamming and theory are someone's personal interpretation of music. Alot of the music I liked was just noise to someone else.

I like Techno because it reminds me of Disco, which I also like, which reminds me of Boogie Woogie, which I also like.

I like techno. I'm not the biggest fan, I mean all I do is download songs here and there, but I like them. I'd have to say that most people just don't concider techno to be music, which isn't the case, but that's what most people think.

i prefer trance to techno, and yes there is a difference.

all music has inherent theory in it.

I'm taking it by techno, you mean electronic? If so, then I love the ****. I'm not into the harder stuff though like Hardcore and Gabber, that stuff really gets ya goin. I like some Happy Hard, very little trance, and breaks are cool when you just wanna chill. How can anyone say it's not music? If you're not sure what Hardcore/Gabber is, download the following...

Catscan - Secret Valley
Neophyte - Happy Is Voor Homo's
Cixx - To The Bass
Noize Suppressor - Noize Everybody <----- real gabber
Chosen Few - Name Of My DJ (Rob Gee Remix)
Clock - Fly Away (Dione Hardcore Mix)

Electronic is more for dancing to than listening to, I think. Most people don't give it a chance, they listen to the first minute of a song and say it's all the same. Hardcore definately controls you if you're willing to let go.

No theory involved? How do you expect to make a track thats 72 minutes long that will keep people dancing by using "noises looped together", there is a lot more to being a decent techno dj than this i assure you.

Techno is like any other music, until you take the time to really get into it, it will probably just sound like various noises thrown together.

I can say that 2 years ago i could have sworn all heavy metal is was guys just turning up the volume on their instruments and growling/screaming lyrics. But since that time i have used my eyes to see what exactly makes up the music.

Its all in if you are willing to take the time and give it a chance.

Speaking of techno and "glow sticks"....has anybody ever heard of hand art? My friend is really good at this and does it all the time when we're blasted- it looks so cool. I can't think of any way to really describe it- he just makes "waves" w/his hands. Wow, sound like a dumbass and I doubt that anybody knows wut i'm talkin about so i'll just stfu now
