| Ok so heres the deal, i really dig George Clinton and the Parliament and, i really like the whole sound they have. Funk is definitly a lot of fun to listen to (for me anyways) The problem is, thats like the only funk i have heard of, so my question is anyone else out there on these boards been known to get down to funk? If so what is a good funk besides George Clinton? I am interested to hear responses on this ![]() Cleric![]() |

| Tower of Power and Average White Band. The later being more of a soul band than funk, but they qualify. George C the P Funk Allstars rule!

| Stevie Wonder-anything from the early '70s, but most of his stuff is awesome Sly and the Family Stone-george took most of his cues from sly herbie hancock-okay, so not all his stuff is funky, but pick up a copy of headhunters galactic-a newer band from new orleans who tears it up! their drummer is one of the best around Karl Denson's Tiny Universe-technically, I think you'd call it groove jazz, but it funks pretty hard to me! Soulive-another groove jazz group that can bring in the funk Medeski Martin and Wood-these guys bridge the gap between free jazz, funk, and all sorts of other things. By far the most exciting improvisational music being made today. Weather Report-check out their later stuff like heavy weather, once jaco joined the band. Their early stuff is waaaay spacey, then they got waaaay funky. and how could I forget, the hardest working man in show business, the godfather of soul, the man YOU chose to be soul brother #1...............................................J AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAMES BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NNNNNNN He's got more funk in one "uhhhhh" than any band since.

| nah, he's not funky, he's way too early for funk. Boogie Woogie definitely, but far from funk. The accent in funk is all on the one (remember the p.funk tune? "my name is the one, some people call me the funk/here's a toast to the boogie! I'll drink to that, bottom's up!"). Little Richard was still doing rock stuff, with the accent all on the 2 and 4. |
