Yes I can play a few Tool songs. I'm pretty well versed in music theory and can play various instruments, I know what's hard and what isn't. But it's just a personal opinion. I like them, I really do. I hope they kick my ass this time!

I have to disagree with you that their music isn't complicated (okay well maybe the guitar is simple and just has effects piled on it) as Danny Carey is a brilliant drummer who pulls off some very complex moves, but I do agree that they suck live. I've seen them twice, once in '96 and once last fall at Madison Square Garden. Both times they sounded exactly like they did on their records and showed little or no interest in interacting with or playing for the audience. I love Tool and have been a longtime fan of theirs, but they are just not a good live band. They had some energy a few years ago at that show, but not much. Their Lateralus tour show just flat out sucked. Maynard didn't even show his face the entire time, the rest of the band didn't move, and all their stupid computer graphics spinning around the screens were distracting and boring.

My girlfriend actually fell asleep for the second half of the show, during that way too long interlude part where Adam Jones played the same 3 chords over and over and over for about 15 minutes. I didn't drag her to the show, she loves Tool as well. They just were very boring. When I see a band I want them at least to pretend they're interested in putting on a show for the people who paid to see them. If I want the same experience as going to a Tool show again I will just shut out the lights, put some bad music visualizer on my computer and blast their records really loud. Then I'll have saved my $40 and will be able to pull bong hits in the comfort of my own home.

This past weekend I saw the last half of a Tool show from 96 at a friends house, and based on that alone I cannot wait til the show. A few of my friends have seen them and they are all going again, so they must be good enough.

IMO Tool is a great live band, so powerful. They're shows are more of a spiritual journey than a rock concert. Thats the mentality one should have when attending their shows.

Tool ain't about the persons, it's about the music and the visuals. As Tool is a very visual band. I don't mind if Adam and Justin stands and stares at their shoes the whole gig, as long as they play their music with feeling. Same goes for Maynard, he almost never faces the crowd, which is cool with me.

They're letting their egos go and let the music speak for itself.
If you want to see the band jumping around and messing up the songs complete with silly pyrotechnics go see Limp Bizkit or something.

Default OH MY F*CKING GOD!!!

It's exactly one week since the show...and I'm still in shock at how f'ing amazing the show was. Anytime Tool is within 4 hours from here...I will be at their show. I have been downloading live footage from their shows since then and haven't found anymore in awhile, so if anybody knows where to find some...please let me know

BTW...Maynard is God

I don't care if they want to play staring at their shoes, but they played without any feeling. It may as well have been a recording. Fancy visual effects can't make up for a lack of interest. I didn't say I wanted people acting like monkeys and using pyrotechnice, but fire is at least a lot more interesting than some looped 5 second long graphic clip of a spinning alien zombie thing or whatever it was up on the marquee screen.
