I've started listening to quite a good deal of new bands lately.

Low, Appleseed Cast, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Unwound, Modest Mouse, God Speed You Black Emperor, the flaming lips, Spiritualized ( spiritualized is quite possibly *the* pot band, by the way).

In the 6 weeks I've been listening to the appleseed cast, they have jumped to my number two favorite band of all time, after tool ( by the way, no they sound nothing alike).

Modest Mouse too, has greatly impressed me.

right now I'd probably have to say favorite bands list goes something like this.

1. Tool
2. Appleseed Cast
3. Smashing Pumpkins
4. Modest Mouse/Dream Theater ( tie)
5. And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead/Spiritualized (tie)

Keep your eyes open, modest mouse and the flaming lips are doing a tour together right now with cake and a few other bands. They're gonna be in columbus in late august. I caught the lips a few years back, they put on one weird show, I highly recommend!

Oh man I LOVE The Smashing Pumpkins. Ever since I first heard them about 8 years ago I have felt a strong connection with their music. And thats kinda funny because I'm not in to that kind of music at all anymore but I still love them. Oh yeah and I must add that Billy Corgan is the most beautiful man alive.

Ohh the joys of older music, but not to old. Sorry, I just don't really like alot of this new crap. (Note: not calling any of the bands mentioned here crap)

There's loads of "new crap" out there though, a lot of it completely crap (in every sense of the word) but there's a fair amount of it that's good too... just like it was with older music i.e. there's always been **** stinkin' up the music pond(!)

Current faves (read as good) out of the newer stuff:

(1) Tool
(2) Orange Goblin
(3) The Dwarves
(4) Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

etc. etc.
