| I was thinking about influential bands (rock genre) of the past that are still respected, influencing music and still selling records today Bands such as led zepp, the doors, jimi hendrix, dire straits, etc And was thinking in 30 or so years time, who from our era will be looked at in that manner. Id like to think bands such as nirvana, tool, radiohead, and deftones will be. What do you think?

| While not rock, Tupac's music will stand the test of time, he had a beautiful meassage to say and many years from now people will still be going through the stuff he raps about.

| I have to say that Rage Against the Machine, NIN, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Korn have set some standards. My guess is that 10 years from now people will still be listening to "comes as you are"

| Although I like them quite a bit as a band, I don't believe pearl jam should be included in that list. Influential? All they did was take Mother Love Bone's sound when Andy Wood died and repackage it for the MTV masses. That being said, I think I'm going to go listen to some "Ten" Damn that's a good cd ![]()

| tupac, Nirvana. Even though I hate to say it, this era hasn't given us that many good bands, that are well known.

| SHaman, mother love bone was obdviously very influential to the seattle scene but REgardless of 2 members of mlb being in pearl jam they still had a newly refined sound which was unique in itself. Eddie vedder and andy wood had very differant voices. Also mother love bone guitar riffs were more pop metal and raunchymal and pearl jam was just really "grundgy and raw" I believe they were both incredible bands and both deserve top be on that theoretical list |

| These bands/musicians have been influencial in the past and will continue onwards into the future: Bob Dylan; my personal favorite, I don't believe anyone will ever do what Dylan did to the music world. He gave people a voice. Jimi Hendrix/Led Zeppelin; pushed guitaring to new levels. Besides, who doesn't like Jimi's version of Star Spangled Banner? Neil Young; though he hasn't changed one particular part of music he has steadily raised the bar for many smaller aspects. He still infulences bands today, my brother was listening to some new band and it had the line "The needle and the damage done" which was just groovy. Paul Simon; greatest lyricist after Dylan. The Doors: Morisson really gave the crowd what it wanted: crazy stage antics. Pink Floyd: showed there is more to music than just flashy guitaring, sometimes the beauty of the sound is when there is no sound. Grateful Dead: the first, and still, great live band/jamband.
