| I was looking through my music collection and I noticed that I do not have that many female singers. I want to try to balance out my collection. So, who is your favorite female singer of all time ? Also, what is your favorite song or record by that artist.

| Top 5 female singer album list: Cyndi Lauper!!!: "She's So unusual" Alanis Morrisette: "Jagged Little Pill" Tori Amos: "Little Earthquakes" Ani DiFranco "Not A Pretty Girl" and then to toss in a classis, Ella Fitzgerald - ANYTHING by her. She rocks. um.... rocked.

| This may sound extremely sexist, but women, on average, produce the worst music... ever. I can listen to Janis Joplin but it stops there. Alaniss Morsette? Hah, Maynard can throw her off the stage any day and I wouldnt make a fuss. I guess I have a stigma against female vocalists primarily because of pop music (which includes modern rap and hiphop, its all pop music, admit it) and country music *shudders* Im sure there are some good ones out there but I sure as hell havent heard any.

| rap music being pop?......sorry, there was nothing pop about Tupac Shakur or other rappers who actually have something to say......and i would guess most female artists suck for you because you dont relate to what any of them are talking about, just as I cant relate to country or hard rock stuff where some guy just seems to scream all the time...pop music seemed to step form rock music, so wouldnt you rather say all music is some type of rock?.......labeling genres seems to be a horrible idea for the industry to me......jazz, neosoul, rap, hip hop, r&B?.....the only purpose it serves seems to be in finding your CD at the record store..... |

| I think everyone has to listen to this one song called On the Low by Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions, at least once in their lifetime.. I also love Janis Joplin, but she's on a whole different level. |
