Question Riders on the Storm by Phish or DMB?

First off, let me state that I know the original version of Riders on the Storm is done by none other than the Doors.

I recently downloaded Riders on the Storm (a live cover) supposedly by Phish. Yet, somehow it doesn't seem like Phish in the singing and vaguely resembles that of Dave Mathews Band. Although I keep finding the same version of Riders on the Storm by Phish. Can anyone tell me if it is indeed Phish or if it is DMB. Thanks a million.

Well there is a huge difference between the sound of Phish and Dave Matthews Band, so it really should be pretty easy to tell. I have never heard Phish play Riders of the storm and I dont really like Dave Matthews Band too much, so I am not sure. And a decent amount of that stuff you will download is mislabeled, so it might be either. If I heard it i could tell you if it was phish though.

Don't always pay attention to what it says the artist name is on Kazaa, WinMx, whatever you are using to download songs. I always see tons of DMB songs that say are covered by DMB, but really aren't. Same for Phish and Grateful Dead. It's all really confusing. I have downloaded what was supposed to be The Allman Bros. covering "Sugar Magnolia" but it was in fact the Dead.

Just give the song a good listen and try to determine who's it by.

why does everybody need to patronize Psycho Donkey? he didn't ask if you like Dave Matthews Band. he didn't ask for a lecture on how to use download program. he just asked a question that you clearly didn't know the answer to. geez!! ...soory.

anyway, i had that download on my computer too and it is not phish. it is dave matthews and probably the rest of the band from one of his really early shows at college. i have the full concert.

Pufferfish in no way did I patronize him, I said i dont know if DMB covered the song, because i am not a big DMB fan. I explained if it was Phish i could tell him, and that he should be careful with what he downloads because they are mislabled. You need to start reading more carefully buddy.
If i was to patronize him I would have said "DMB sucks balls." And I would have said wow you dont know a thing about music if you cant tell the difference between phish and dave matthews band.

LouReedNYC, I apologize. my overly-harsh, reactive response was unfair to you and undeserved. it was more a reaction to a lot of posts i've read on this sight which are clearly written by people for self-serving reasons. people too often talk about others being "newbies" or naive or how much more experienced or knowledgeable they are. i did not mean to attack you specifically or personally. sorry.

So many song available for download are mislabled. For instance I keep seeing this song called "Smoke Two Joints" which is said to be by Bob Marley. Being a huge Marley fan for years, I know for a fact that he has never recorded that song. I think its by sublime. I don't get it because they don't really sound alike at all. Anyway, I just wanted to make the point that there are so many songs available for download on Kaaza that are mislabled. I'll know its really out of hand when I see F*ck tha police" by Steely Dan

Default Riders On The Storm

i dont know if the original got answered or answered correctly but i can tell you without a doubt that the version of Riders u heard was the 3 remaining Doors playing with the lead singer from Creed (cant recall his name right now).
