Default Doors Reunion?

Well, I know there are at least a few doors fans here. What do y'all think about the reunion?

For some reason, to me the Doors w/o Morrison is like the Dead without Garcia or Dead Kennedys without Biafra. I would go to a "Doors 21st Century" concert way before I went in miles of a DK Kennedys show

Default While Ian Astbury...

...can belt out a tune (and even sound similar to Jim), I TOTALLY agree with ya Shaman!

Jim Morrison WAS the Doors IMO. His charisma, playfullness, 'bad boy' image and stage presence were what sold tickets.

And YES...DK's without Jello would be rediculous!

They actually played in my town like a week ago, billed AS the Dead Kennedys (they are not using that name for legal reasons). There was a big article in the newspaper on how they are still the Dead Kennedys without Biafra (ignoring the fact that the remaining members were SUING Biafra) and made it seem like he quit the band and refused to play anymore. I didn't go to that.

I would go to a "Doors 21st Century" show (despite the horrible name ) just to see how well they did it. MY hopes would not be up though.

Default The Doors

I would hate to upset 2 moderators on my first post but i think u are both dead wrong about the Doors. Robby, John and Ray are amazingly talented musicians and thier musical skill greatly exceded Jim's. Jim was about charisma, emotion and attitude. It was that formula that made them so great while Jim was still living but i wouldnt expect it to be the same in 2003. See the remaining Doors for the music and u wont be dissapointed.

Default I won't argue...

...the talent of the rest of the band! Some of the best that ever were, to be sure! I'm with you guys there alright!

However, I just don't think I'd be comfortable hearing someone other than Morrison belting out those vocals after that unforgettable intro to 'Light my Fire'. The spark just wouldn't be there!

I honestly think I'd much rather simply do a bowl and pop on one of their classics on CD...or VINYL might not be bad either!

Just my dos centavos.

Well you could go and think its just a cover band with 2 original dudes. They gotta have at lest half of the spark there. And listening to Light my Fire live would be awsome.
