If you don't mind really REALLY perverted rap, MC Paul Barman is great. He is white, Jewish, and went to Brown University (really good Ivy League school), and his raps are all written by him. Instead of songs about prostitutes and drugs and getting shot, its about fantasies with celebrities. Nothing too graphic, really. Also, Blackalicious is a good rap group. They did one song on chemistry ("Chemical Calisthenics") and another one they did in order with the alphabet, from A to Z ("artificial amateurs aren't at all amazing, etc. with the rest of the letters). Also, for some good non hip hop, listen to the Beatles. They are great. Even their songs about having an affair and burning down their lover's house (anyone know what that song is?) are really happy.

well, i'm not that big of a hip hop or rap fan, but you may like to check out John Tejeda's "Daydreams in Cold Weather". For others, if you havent check out Ziggy Marley's stuff, i recommend his stuff, i like his solo album the best. Even though this is stupid to through in, I'm sure you've listen to some of his stuff, David Bowie, and for others..well, if you want more with a broader range of genres, just say so, and I give you a giant list of so, later

If you're really game, then try looking for songs by these artists...

Nasenbluten
Producer
Hellfish
Manu Le Malin
Armageddon Project

It's electronic music, more specifically, it's very unorthodox hardcore techno. Don't be put off by what it sounds like, give it a shot, then judge it. I guarentee you haven't heard much like it before.
