| Since the past repeats itself, when the hell is music going to change from the corporate poppy CRAP of today to a less superficial, more music-oriented scene like it has in the past? Remember that the glitz and glamour of the 80's materialistic "me" generation was followed by a complete backlash against pop, giving birth to the grunge/alternative rock era. Well, I think pretty soon people will turn against the superficial materialism of the current music scene (i.e. rap and pop) and return to the days where the MUSIC actually mattered, not who performed the music. Anyone else have thoughts on this? And while I'm at it, When do you think patriotism will be considered "uncool"?

| I hate pop and everything it represents. To me its just the music industry's 'beautiful' people, everyone has a sprakly image, and if they go against it, its just a publicity stunt. As for the music itself, and the singers that call themselves 'artists', it all seems uniform, with small pinches of efforts towards anything worth listening too, let alone buying.

| Did you know they have made it to NOW 13 or 14 pop is annoying, look who their king is, michael jackson ![]() Too many teenie bopper conforming tasteless ignorant idiots roam America for pop to end, its only going to get bigger and worse, if thats even possible. I think all these pop stars, boy bands, and musically challenged famous people thinking they can sing need to be exiled to some uncivilized anti-american country where they won't be able to produce or broadcast music ever again. Blow up american idol, napalm reality tv shows, and nuke the DEA. As for rap, it isn't my thing but I endure it better then pop.

| Pop will never fade away, "pop" is an abbreviation for "Popular", in connection to popular music. Considering there will always be SOME kind of popular music, Pop will live for as long as there is music.

I'm talking more about the superficial image of pop music of today. There were many times in music's history when the "popular" artists weren't so materialistic and money-grubbing. I'd like to go back to the example of the grunge era as a backlash towards the superficiality of 80s music. The question I'm asking is when will the popular music change from poppy to just plain popular? And BTW, I don't listen to pop or watch MTV, but the people at work make me listen to the stuff, and its really starting to bug me. | |

| Pop will never go away as long as there's young'uns out there. It's all gotten way too "big business", & the big companies know they can sell the candy-coated stuff that's easy to write & produce. There's a fairly strong undercurrent of punk etc, going on right now, but it will never take the place of mainstream pop. Selling candy to kids is just way too easy & profitable!
