Beatlejuice

Here's my problem: I find that the quality of my voice is very inconsistent. Sometimes it is very smooth and other times it sounds more harsh and distorted. I find the only thing that always seems to fix it is taking a shower, but this is not always possible. Does anyone know any methods/tricks that usually will make one's voice clearer? Or is there any kind of food/drink that you find works? Thanks!

yeah i'd like to know this too, i'm sorta a backup vocalist in my band and i need some better techniques or something heh

I am no singer, but I know a few.
They all use lemon juice. That concentrate that comes in the small plastic lemon containers. They just squirt a small shot in mouth and hold it in the back of your throat for a few seconds then down it. I have no idea why it works, but they always do it.

When I was a punk "vocalist" back in the day, it didn't really matter. I was screaming most of it anyway!! So i tended to keep the ol' throat goin' with lots of cold beer. Unlike the other guys, my hands were free for smokin' drinkin' & whatever.
I could only make it thru 2 sets with that sorta behavior, but what-the-hell!
I was just back in the studio for the 1st time in about 16yrs.
I quit smoking cigs 13yrs ago & I'm not that big of a drinker anymore.....
Anyway, the vocals are certainly better.... I can tell a big difference.
All that crap probably doesn't help....., most likely yer not chain-smokin', gettin'drunk, & screamin' yer ass off.!
