Default Good Sublime-Like band...

A friend of mine came back from Hawaii with some songs by a band called, "Pepper". They sound quite a bit like Sublime, but much better than Long Beach Dub Allstars. Good tokin' up music if you ask me. A few good tracks are:

-"Too Much"
-"Stone Love"
-"B.O.O.T"

Sorry dude...didn't know we had any LBDA fans here.. :-)

I like sublime...but I just didn't get the same feeling from the dub allstars. Dunno, I'll be stickin with 40 oz to freedom.

Seriously though, check out Pepper. They have a few free tracks on mp3 dot com to download, and their website has archives of live shows. I belive that you can pick the CD up at a Zumiez skate shop (my friend was a manager there and found the CD there amazingly).

A funny track that sounds a little punk-ish by them is called "dirty hot sex"

Talking WOW!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! Pepper is incredible, I just downloaded 6 of their songs, and it is almost like a reincarnated Bradly(if that makes ay sense). He sings with the same feeling and heart. I just ordered the CD, I can't wait for it. If you LOVE Sublime, dub and Bob, you love this sh*t.

What is their website?

Another band to check out is BadFish .

Also check out THE SUPER BLACK MARKET CLASH. By The Clash. The last part of the CD is awesome dub music, like THE BANK ROBBER DUB, is one of the more popular ones.

"I'm sooo high I could even touch the sky" -Bob

Listen to the first track on the CD, it goes somthing like,

"The good thing about Hawaii is...the wonderfull K-O-N-A!"

I assume Kona is not just coffee, but a type of Hawiian weed, i seriously doubt they would not smoke!

I have to say the song "B.O.O.T" has a sort of sublime sound (out of all the songs on the CD)

This CD is one of my favs. for listening to when stoned. I can drive around and really jam to this in my car.

Listened to almost all the live songs on the site. It sounds like they have potential, but the lead singer sounds like some drunk white dude tryin to bust out bob marley karaoke. He sounds like hes trying to sound like brad...Its kind of wierd actually. However I do see some potential in this band....I said some.....ok...they are ok...but lbdas tea-bags them while they are sleeping. Not to mention the dirty sanchez lou-dog gave the lead singer.

If these guys are smart they will persue the style they showed with the 58 sec "I got 5 on it" cover. Good stuff.

If you like these guys, sublime and lbdas you will probably really like Opm. They like a more upbeat version of sublime. But they are a really great band. Check out some of their tracks off of "Menace to Sobriety".They make plenty of refrences to smokin the Ganj. They just released a new cd "opm wars", which I havent picked up yet, but I sure will on the way to the job that I just quit yesterday(hehe).

I like "Boot". Good stuff.

Default Weekend Update with hauptmann~

Just bought pepper's cd for 12 bucks. I have to say the cd is alot clearer and you can actually make out the lyrics and it sounds really good. However alot of the vocals and basslines are ripped from sublime. But all in all its a great cd that you can listen to from begining to end.I'll be burning the live stuff from the site tonight. *two dubs up*

Btw:They do smoke pot. There are plenty of refrences on the cd.

Hapuptman,

I agree w/Pepper sounding ALOT like Sublime. I didn't really like them at first because of that. BUT, I started giving the CD a chance to really work it's way into my brain....

I then listened to some Sublime and instantly noticed diffrences..."
Pepper" has lyrics that are a little less serious, and there is less use of distorted electric guitar.

Overall, I think that they allowed Sublime to really set the style and forge the path, and they are sort of following in the footsteps of Sublime. And if I may say so, the beats/vocals are superb and some of the content is funny, as in "Dirty Hot Sex" hehe...

Anyways, I hope more ppl will check em' out. I love sharing great music with other people (and I love it when people share great music with me!) :-P
