If your gonna go panasonic get a ghost touch panel deck, they are pretty cool and easy on the wallet. Personally I like clarion decks. I wouldnt waste my time on getting 1 10" sub.

I already have it and a bass tube. The tuube was free and the sub was 25 from my sisters bf ( good condition) Why wouldnt you waste your time on a 10 inch sub? Is panasonic good quality though?

I wouldn't get a Panasonic, but I've been corrupted by good quality Blaupunkts, so maybe I'm not the dude to ask...

Just make sure that it's got fairly decent RMS output, don't get suckered by the max power. If you're putting in subs, you'll need to have a pre-out, most decks have em, but double check. Consider getting one with double pre-outs, it's worth it if you plan on using multiple amps in the future.

If you're willing to spend the cash, go up and get an alpine or maybe a clarion, mp3 would be worth it too. 300 bucks CA will get you something pretty decent, and it'll last you a while.

You're going to need an amp for that 10" as well, so that's a little bit extra, you can't just hook it up to the deck like you did with the bass tube. An amp will probably run 150 - 300 for enough RMS to power a ten, but don't skimp, buy a better amp than you need, once again, worth it in the long run. And like another guy said, don't bother with a single ten, it's a waste of time and money. Match the sub if you can, then build a decent box, you can probably put one together for about 50 to 100. Trust me man, nobody bothers with a single ten, you'll thank us...

a single 10" sub can rock...if its a good one.

make sure its got dual voice coils if you wanna thump.

personally, i have one single-voice-coil 12" that handles 400W RMS hooked up to an 800W Kenwood amp..

ive got 460W running to it and i abuse it so its not gonna last long...that and it doesnt have the KICK that i want..but when it blows i'll have an excuse to buy a dual voice coil 12 that can use all the power my amp has to offer.

mines all running off a Kenwood deck...it doesnt sound all that bad, its just not the end-all, be-all..but i got it for free and im using it till it blows..

as far as the new Kenwood decks go, well, just say i USED to be a fan. their new ones are crap tho IMO.

it rocks, but i cant wait to make it rock more

its a vicious cycle-more power! more power!

Imo
1 10" = putting a rabbit in a cardboard box. The attempt to get good bass from 1 10 is futile.

Go for 2 12"s, kicker comps of course.
Nothing like telling eveyone "HEY I'M 5 BLOCKS AWAY, ILL BE THERE IN A MINUTE" without saying a word. Of course this only works with good music and some nice treble.

in my last car i had 2 kicker comp vr8's...(8")...they were pretty good for eights, i had em maxed out with a fosgate amp and they ran fine

as a matter of fact ive still got em around here somewhere..

yeah but kicker makes a good sub..

i think thats what my next 12 is gonna be- see i was trying to keep an exclusively kenwood system, but their subs look pretty cheesy IMO...and now i come to find out that i dont like their new decks..after ive got one(but it was new/free)..ah well:

STUFF TO DO WHEN IM RICH!
