Default Slightly Stoopid's "Everything You Need"

I searched, and like there were 3 topics before about this group, but I wanted to post specifically about their new CD.

I bought this CD after hearing a recomendation here in some random thread. I downloaded KMDI off their website and was somewhat impressed, downloaded a few more and kind of dismissed them as "ehhh...*shrug*" Big misake!

I was at best buy exchanging a hard drive and browsed the CD's and saw that Slightly Stoopid had their CD there, so I grabed it and said, "What the hell, it has to sound better than their ok live tracks."

I was so right, first track to last this CD is my favorite. It has a rasta sound to it, but at times that sort of fades and there are a few "punk-ish" tracks.

They have a guy on there that has a "Shaggy-like" voice that does some of the rasta/dub/reggae vocals. Some of the songs are so smooth that they really put my ass INTO the couch.

They do a song with G-Love (who i've already been into) thats really, really, really damn good. It's called, "Mellow Mood"

My other fav. tracks are:

"Officer": Dub track about getting caught by the LEO's

"Perfect Gentleman": Really cool punk track with a SnoCore/Snowboarding feel to it. Somthing about it reminds me of NOFX but I can't put my finger on it.

"Wicked Rebel": Rasta track with some really smooth vocals/beats. Smooooooooth....yeah.

"Sweet Honey": Acoustic Guitar/Dub Beat-style song. Very cool sounding and the chorus is very cool

"Mellow Mood": Slower acoustic type of sounding song with some great vocals/lyrics. Very catchy esp. the chorus going, "When your money's gone where will you be? If your love is strong, thats all you need". Awesome...Oh there's some rasta vocals that kind of make it really feel cool.

"Collie Man": Upbeat acoustical type of song with good drums. Very relaxing. Great end to a great CD

Overall, im very glad I bought this CD. It feels like a breath of fresh air compared to all the sublime/LBDA and other bands with rasta infulence in them. Slightly Stoopid has their own sound, and isn't like Pepper, (which whille sounding good) sounds hijacked a little from Sublime.

It seems they've taken and blended 311 with Sublime, and a little more Reggae influnce and added some punk styles to create this whole new flavor. It's awesome and I'm reccomending it to all my friends.

PS, the higher you get or the....more you uh trip, the better the music feels and sounds.

I have been listening to slightly stoopid for a while and I have to say that they are the most talented acoustic guitar players I have ever heard in my life ... in there acoustic roots album they recorded 45 minutes of jaw dropping music in one shot ... and hardly any mistakes ... none that I noticed anyway .. and there timing is perfect ... multiple acoustic guitars playing at the same time its unbelievable how much talent they have ... listen to collie man on the acoustic roots cd ... and I can guaranty that u wont regret it.

aight since Stoopids from san diego i felt i needed to represent...been a fan for a long time so i can add some info here

haha the shaggy style voice...theyre both white guys if youre wondering...good down to earth guys, i see them live a lot, they switch off on guitar and bass

drummers they interchange around a lot, they lost their old drummer after "the longest Barrel ride" hence the "Acoustic Roots" album, most everything on "Everything you need" was done with a drum machine...still fat as hell and awesome...totally worth your time

about the tracks commented...perfect gentleman, is not a NOFX tune, it sounds familiar because it is a famous wyclef jean song...check out his orginal hip hop track of it, its sick!

cally man and wiseman were really sick acoustic, but rip 2 bowls of dank, turn on the version of wiseman from Everything You need and prepare to be ****in vaulted into outerspace...the delay/reverb/chorus on the guitar sounds like liquid ripples pulsing through your body...absolutely amazing...

both versions of "mellow mood" rule as well

another great track is "world goes round", sort of a hip hop track with the vocalist from Capitol Eye rapping...again, very talented

check out all the albums...

P.S. Sweet honey is radio garbage and is the only song of theirs most of their fans dislike

No matter how much/often I listen to this CD it ALWAYS sounds good high. It's been like a month, and I listen to it every day. That's how I can tell that this is good..stay-power. I tend to shift through songs quickly. A CD I burn won't even be listened to in a few days...But this CD has really been played evey day for a month and I'm still not tired of it.
