| I won't go on about the role that powerful lyrics play in songs, the words radiate expression more smoothly into our brains then any poetry. I find lyrics to be more meaningful and more beautiful then poems. Rage Against the Machine really grabs the power of the word by the balls and rocks some serious socks. Pease feel free to post the artist/band and the name of one of your favorite songs along with the lyrics. I wouldn't suggest any incredibly long ones though, take it east on Cradle of Filfth, eh? I'm just getting into a new band called Murder by Death. They have a female cello player who makes crazy body movements as she plays - so that's all it took to buy me. You should really listen to this song, it's not dark at all. It's actually sad and makes me think of western movies. Murder by Death - Devil in Mexico Well I'll take two shots said the devil to the man and layed a little book on the bar well lord knows the devil he only talks **** and only drinks whiskey from the jar and his hands were raw and his eyes were cold and his breath was pure alcohol and the sound of his voice it never got old and he talked and talked and talked through the night kept sippin his shine till the mornin' light tumbled in through the shades and as he started to go i put three bullets in his back. well the devils bleedin' crude oil from a hole in his chest and its panging on the bedpan drippin through the bedsheets and all the businessmen are putting pails beneath his wounds and pawnin the oil at the market well his heart ain't made of nothin but piss and vinegar and his boots have trampled more than you would know and his breath has split open the thermometer on the sill its so ****ing cold in here since you brought in the snow Black heart leaking oil in the pan, dealin' insults with his free hand in this hospital bed bleedin' Black heart you shot the plan to hell and the apathy ate you up inside Like slivers of lead inside your food he's the poison inside you and you eat until you're full and you eat until youre full he lit the fires inside your belly full of medicine and whiskey the aspirin, valium, codiene pills and silver rum someone say a hail mary for this house bless the corners and burn the devil out. ![]()

| Metal-ish lyrics? Is that what your looking for? Fine :P Look at And One lyrics, they are insane. For other kinds? Kris Kristofferson's lyrics I rather enjoy, due to the sad, beaten down cowboy feel. And of course, the Grateful Dead's lyrics are outstanding. I could go on, but I won't

| I like lyrics so much that all I listen to is rap. People like eminem and nas are rappers that talk about real **** too. A good rapper is a poet. Real geniuses are people that can think like eminem, not kids that get good grades and become doctors or whatever. The kids that get bad grades because school bores them becasue their brains are so active. They find deeper meanings in everything. Eminem questions every aspect of life and tells the world about it not giving a **** what the criticts have to say.

Post the most insane of the ones you know, you can't expect me to just google on command. Metal-ish? No way, silly goose. Quote:
I don't really like where rap is nowadays, it seems kind of commerial and shallow sometimes and the whole fidi cent phenomena is painful. Wu Tang Clan fo life, fool. Some inspiration. Built to spill is great if you haven't heard them, I believe they've been broken up for a long time now. Built To Spill - Big Dipper "Once..." When I was little someone pointed out to me Some constellations but the big dipper's all I could see That brontasaurus must have stood a thousand miles high That brontasaurus laying on its side up in the sky Bottoms up and this time Won't you let me be? Bottled up but this time Won't you rescue me? You should have been here last night and heard what the big dipper said to me Jack thought it twice and thought that that fact made it true Some brains just work that way that's what chemicals can do He thought he'd have a beer thought he was alone He thought an Albertson's stir fry dinner would make his apartment a home Bottoms up and this time I thought I bored me but I learned to think like you Now nothing bores me that's that nothing is thought through Bottoms up and this time Won't you let me be? Bottled up but this time Won't you rescue me? Thought it out and this time It's all I can see You should have been here last night and heard what the big dipper said to me | ||

Rap has no meaning other than suck my dick or I'll kill you while I shoot up all my drugs. look at me, im so cool, im such a pimp I have no morals in life. me me me me me. And yeah eminems lyrics are so meaningfull and deep. To quote something from one of his albums, forget which the one with the Im slim shadey crap song. "so you can suck my dick if you dont like my ****" real deap, and powerfull. I'm really touched by that. I'm sure there is some rap out there with meaningfull lyrics and not just fake cheasy crap but I've yet to hear it, and quite frankly I don't want to hear it, in fact I don't want to hear any rap. I only hope you were joking because if not..I fear for society...more than I already do.

| yeah sorry man, I'm a bit harsh when it comes to rap. No offence to anyone who likes rap, I'm sure lots of people can and do say the same stuff about my music.. I won't dispute that Eminem isn't a genius, he is, just look at him, the guys a frickin cash machine, however when you say his lyrics are deep..that strikes a nerve. As much as it pains me..I used to be a rap fan, for a sort period of time. It's songs like Holiday Inn and Right Thurr that make me wonder how anyone can listen to such mindless drivel. Some of Eminem's lyrics have a bit more meaning that the usual sex drugs and hos typical rap though. Oh Tupac, forgot about him. Used tr listen to him a bit, he actually had some meaning in some of his songs so I will give credit where credit is due. However, for the most part, rap is just mindless drivel. And if anyone takes offence to that, Im not trying to start a flame war or anything |

| (Just to get this out of the way: I'm not a "gangsta" or rap fool) Rap is not just "mindless drivel". It's an expression of whatever the guy is feeling like then, just like all music is, but the persons mind is just more conditioned to that style of music, probaly due just to the fact they listen to it more than any other kind. The "Sex drugs and ho's" part of rap music is all just an expression of power that alot of them didn't have before they became big stars. But you have to admit Eminem is a genius at rhyming, and yes Tupac is a great artist. And just so I don't feel awkward about defending rap music.... Allman Brothers Bob Dylan Neil Young CCR Willie Nelson Kris Kristofferson Jim Croce Harry Chapin Beatles...Grateful Dead. There we go..back to normal. |
