Default The Beatles

The Beatles is the greatest band, hands down. I think if more people listened to their music everyone would be calm and laid back. They were great musicians and songwriters(all of them). I like the latter catalog 66-69, or whenever revolver came out. what do you think of the band? And what is your favorite song? Mine would be Helter Skelter or Dear Prudence.

Yes, The Beatles were great. I'm a huge fan (as if my name didn't give it away), I have all their albums except the money-grabbing compilations. Their music is so creative and cheerful, even in the slow songs. I love how every member is a fantastic singer, whether on their own or in harmony. I like pretty much every one of their songs, but a few that come to mind are All I've Got to Do, Norweigan Wood, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Rocky Racoon, I'm Only Sleeping, Mr. Moonlight, Twist and Shout, Girl....at this point I realize that I could go on for so very long, therefore I'll stop so that I don't steal eveyone else's favourites. As for a favourite album, it's a toughy but I'll have to vote White Album mainly because of its length and diversity.

White album definatly. Although Sgt. Pepper was perfect, White album was so deep and complex, yet simple and fun in it's own funky way.

White Album OWNS

SUB QUESTION:
What's your favorite song on the White Album?
--

i'd have to think about the answer to that one for awhile...

You know, we all have voted for the white album and that album was mostly done by the individuals. They were hardly a band at that point.
They each went in and recorded their tracks seperately and even though a lot of the songs said "Lennon & McCartney", they actually didn't corraborate at all on that album. They just had an agreement that all the songs they wrote would have both their names on them.

I was 11 when they announced they were breaking up. It was a sad day.

Favorite song off the white album (by the way, trivia question: What is the correct title for the album?)? I would have to say "Back in the USSR". Just because they finally said **** it and did a song to show they could hold their harmony with the beach boys.
Boy, did they show them.

Default I hate bringing this stuff up because I think I look like an assh@le.

But I was at the Beatles last concert with my parents back in 1965 at Candlestick. I was 12 yrs old and still have the ticket stub. I remember it cost $6. Memories a little hazy of the event but I remember a lot of screaming and I think my folks said they played for about 40 minutes.

But if you want history my father saw Elvis in 1956 and Buddy Holly 5 times.......now to me, that's cool.

By the way, the white album is called "The Beatles"

Yep, now the original cover art?

Yeah, I remember learning about why they quit giving concerts. The crowd was screaming so loud and so long that no one could hear the music. They decided as musicians they were just wasting their time giving concerts.

Nowadays, I find it hard to believe anyone would give up the money.

White Album original name? "A doll's House" or something like that, I'm glad its referred as the white album instead.

Default Heh heh heh

I remember the original cover was either John or Paul and some girls naked or something like that but not real sure. I remember radio stations in San Francisco talking about it and said they made it plain white so they wouldn't have to recall albums like the did for Yesterday and Today.

Now for you....a couple of easy ones:

1. Who was Prudence?
2. What was Helter Skelter?

I can't remember the whole story behind dear prudence, either john wrote it about a girl i think his niece who wouldn't come out of her room or it was about paul, who he called prudence. and i think helter skelter was a slide.

Original cover art was John and Yoko standing naked. One of the most unflattering pictures I have ever seen (deliberately so).

The white album is actually self titled, you are correct.

I always connected Helter Skelter with Chas Manson, so I have no clue.

I believe Prudence was Mia Farrow's sister, if memory serves.
