| I happen to be a big fan of a lot of lesser known bands. Some of those include: Jimmie's Chicken Shack Reel Big Fish and The Hives, even though they are big in England Of course there are more than that but those are just some of them. The thing that makes me wonder is why have these good bands gone mostly un-noticed? There are also a lot of local to a 300 mile area bands that I really like also but I think that the reason that they never really made it big, or haven't yet, it because they never had the chance. There was just no one there in the big time to make them big time and I do tink it is a shame because a lot of them are better than a lot of what is out there. Of course I like the good old songs of before my time and during the earlier parts of it, such as the beatles, Greatful dead, Phish, and Sublime, but I hate to see other good bands go un-noticed. What about you, what local or small time bands do you really like? ![]()

| I'd hardly call Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Reel Big Fish or the Hives 'lesser known'. Maybe when compared to say, the Stones or KISS, but I've heard RBF and JCS on the local "alternative rock" stations, and I've probably heard the Hives without knowing it. I consider "lesser known" to mean that the only radio stations they'd be on are the independent stations, or college radio. So bands that you've probably never heard of: The 5.6.7.8's: okay, now that everyone's seen Kill Bill, everyone's heard of them. But, they still kick ass, and I still saw 'em, from backstage, for free last week(my friend works at the club where they played). Afro Celt Sound System: African Celtic Techno. They're big in the world music scene, which means there's about twelve people worldwide that like 'em. Alabama 3: They do the theme song for the Sopranos. Given this, they should be huge right now. They aren't. The universe just ain't fair. The Lost Trailers: Folksy, upbeat southern rock. Another travesty that they aren't huge. Butt Trumpet: Anally obsessed punk band. They aren't very good, but they are funny. There are quite a few more, but I think I've taken enough of your time for now.

| OK you know what, bad rep is supposed to be given to those that have done something stupid, said something wrong or stupid, or have offended you. It should not be given to people that you think have bad taste in music. Some ass gave me bad rep and told me that "Those bands suck and so do you." Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I call them lesser known becasue compared to most bands they are rarely ever mentioned. I also mean the small time independent bands that play at clubs and play on radio stations only though. ![]() |
