You may be surprised, but I know around me in Boston there are a few stations that play their single all the friggin time. I was planning on getting the album today or tomorrow, so I'll post again when I finally get it. I'm pretty sure I'll like it a lot...

'Take Me Out' made it big here in Canada, as well as in the states. I like that song, haven't heard any others however.

The only song i've ever heard from them is indeed "take me out" which I didn't mind, but it wasn't a favorite.

Ive got their CD on my computer, i feel "take me out" is one of the weaker tracks on the CD. It is sooooooo overplayed I actually hate the song now.

Jacqueline and 40' are my faves
It has some mean punchy guitar riffs and bass lines though (the CD) and it is pretty cool.

Seriously though, this whole "rock revival" is getting pretty tired. We need some new Electro-Rock (think the Killers) if the genre is going to maintain interest. What we don't need is GAY bands like modest mouse cashing in on it.
But my main love will always be electronic music.
New Rock bands often lack originality, I'll always prefer the classics (Beatles, Stones, Doors, Jimi, Who , Zeppelin, Bowie etc)

Ok, why do you not like modest mouse?

They have been around for years, their new CD sucks compared to their old stuff.
They are one of my favorite bands for there originality.

Listen to some of their old music, you will see.

the reason new rock bands seem to lack originality, is because how much more can they innovate and keep coming up with new styles of music? of course the beatles, zeppelin, hendrix, the who, etc. will always be classics and be infinitely more famous than newer bands. you know why? 'cause rock was new back then, and every time they put out a track they didnt have people criticizing the songs and saying they werent unique enough. they had the privilege of being the pioneers of rock and roll, instead of just being compared to a mold that had already been developed years earlier.

and i like modest mouse the single 'float on' seems really overplayed and tiresome now, but "good news for people who love bad news" was a great cd with a lot of other better songs on it. "the world at large" and "ocean breathes salty" are two other songs i really enjoyed, id recommend those to anyone who wants to hear more modest mouse besides float on.

It started out as just being indie in the US, but now that single is so popular it's almost overplayed. But they're just so fun and catchy you don't mind.
