I didn't say best music but I see where your coming from. But what you have to understand is that were not good at anything apart from colonizing countries. So we need something to feel proud of.

The Doors are from the US, California to be specific, and they are the best band ever. Britain had some great ones, though, so I think it'd be safe to say that they put out the greatest volume of good music. However, these days, the US kind of owns others, rap being a very popular genre. Didn't we also have the first iteration of modern punk (not the old Sex Pistols/Ramones type punk, the new crappy stuff that's kind of popular)?

I disagree. Britain has had some amazing talent, but IMO it can't compare with the US. Pink Floyd is the only British band I ever listen to, and while I find them completely amazing, they alone cannot compensate for my American music. And besides, did you realize most the bands you mentioned are now considered "classic" rock? Where's the new innovations? Maybe 30 years ago you'd have an argument, but Radiohead and U2 are the only current acts you even mentioned, and I can't stand either one of them. So sorry, I do not agree!

Hhm... if I like it I listen to it lol. I don't really care where they came from... although I do agree that Great Britain had many good bands.

Britain has a lot of great bands and artists, especially considering how small the country is compared to our fair country across the pond. But we have some damn impressive musicians too, which I would stack up against anyone at all, regardless of country. I'll pick from a bunch of genres, but here's a few American rock Icons:
Aerosmith. Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Allman Brothers. The Dead. The Doors. Jimi. Nirvana. Pearl Jam. Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Ramones. The Eagles. The Beach Boys. Parliament/Funkadelic. The Jackson 5. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. Bob Dylan. Guns n Roses. Van Halen. Stevie Wonder. Fleetwood Mac. ALL the great blues artists, from which all this great music came. All of Motown. REM. James Brown. Pantera. SRV. Prince and the NPG. I could do this for hours...

There is no best.

Zepplin
Beatles
Stones
The Who
Pink Floyd
U2 (not realy britain but it boosts my argument)
Radiohead

I can't be bothered to list the American bands but if you don't agree thats ok as long as you admit i'm right.
Zeppelin- awesome!
Beatles- Liked them when I was 15 but not now
Stones - Suck
The WHo- To stoned to remember the Who
Pink FLoyd- Great, but overplayed
Us - Yuck!
Radiohead- Boring

So yes Britan had some great bands, but they are not better than American bands.
Think -
Jimi Hendrix
Jefferson Airplane
Pantera
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Sweetwater
Alice in Chains
Run DMC
Aerosmith
Doobie Brothers
The Doors
And of course- Vanilla Ice. hahaha! Just kidding about that one.

Germany has some awesome music.
Norway has awesome metal.
Belgians... well.. Belgians suck. hahaha
Holland has a cool punk band - Funeral Oration
