I can't be bothered to list the American bands but if you don't agree thats ok as long as you admit i'm right.

I have to give Britain GREAT credit for giving me my favorite bands, including the ones listed above (excluding U2, though I respect them). I also give much credit to Britain for the punk revolution, which I very much enjoyed listening to and being part of, because honestly.. fuck the machine.

With a list like that, its hard to argue.

In the 60's, 70's, and part of the 80's but now the best bands are American. You have Metallica, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Godsmack, Disturbed, Tool, Foo Fighters, System of a Down, Staind, Korn, and so many more. Those are all great bands you mentioned but U2. I just am waiting for the rebirth of the British invasion.

Zeppelin, Beatles, Coldplay, and Pink Floyd are definetly some of the best bands to make it famous in this old world. I included coldplay because, though they aren't as goof as the others, at least they are recent.

But as far as single artists are concerned...

I bow to Jimi Hendrix and Robert Johnson

Both American. Or, err, African American.

wow, its so weird this thread shouyld be bumped, because just YESTERDAY, my dad said to me in the car, 'you know, all the best classic rock bands were from england' and we had a huge talk about it. I was gonna make a thread but I forgot.
