Default Everyone agrees that Britain has had the best bands?

I'm biased but I think most would agree that we are the best when it comes to bans. Heh come its the only thing we are the best at but so what.

Zepplin
Beatles
Stones
The Who
Pink Floyd
U2 (not realy britain but it boosts my argument)
Radiohead

I can't be bothered to list the American bands but if you don't agree thats ok as long as you admit i'm right.

id agree that a lot of great talent has come out of britain, although i cant really say if they're "the best". my favorite band is radiohead though, second favorite is pink floyd, and two other bands i like from britain are muse and coldplay

I would definitely agree that Britain has given the world much more great music than other countries. The U.S. and to a lesser extent Canada have had great groups and artists, but I really don't think they measure up to the caliber of the British. Maybe thats just because three of my favourite groups happen to be Floyd, the Beatles, and Zeppelin (Note the E between P and L!!!).

Here's a little challenge to all you who think the U.S. has the best music. Name a group who has gone over to Britain and created as much hype as some of the groups who came to the U.S. from Britain.

You got my vote, JC49.

i get your point but that's an unfair comparison. not many bands from the US extensively tour britain or move there, because they can make more money/get more publicity just by staying here in the states, and it's cheaper/easier for them. however, MANY british bands have done nationwide tours here in the states or relocated to the US because they realize the potential for fame/fortune here. just something to consider (we should have a music smily here, maybe one wearing headphones or somethin..)

Jimi Hendrix. he's in the same boat as zeppelin; didn't make a big splash in there home land, but they crossed the waters and came back a success.

I don't think being a cross over success means you make great music. Just because your popular in two countries doesn't mean you're any better than someone who is a great success only in their own country. I'm not saying that the bands in the list above are bad at all (they're all great bands) but them being cross over successes doesn't make there music good. I'm sure nsync and brittany spears made a big splash over there, but there music sucks.

but i will say this, American music sucks right now, and has for a long time. there are only a few bands that have come out in the past decade that i like. but give America a chance, as soon as mtv is abolished, better bands will come out

you missed the REAL best bands from Britain:

Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Yes
King Crimson

the only band on the original list that is as good as the ones i listed is Pink Floyd, in my opinion...

...anyway, i still like american music better
