I'm 18 and can't stop listening to the Grateful Dead. I don't like the bluesy tracks such as 'I need a Miracle' (although it is still very good) quite as much as the great improvising sessions.

So anyway what are some good songs?

I guess i'll contribute. To get an early taste of the Dead get a two disc set called "Birth Of The Dead" it has a full disc of early studio stuff and a full disc of early live stuff...also buy Workingman's Dead

get all these and then come back, these are some of my favorite songs from right off my head. in my opinion the grateful dead are the best band ever, listen to them a lot.

grateful dead - s/t. so wild, so raw, so awsome

workingmans dead - real bluegrassy/folkie/countryish... a great album when you're in the mood for some blow and some beers

american beuty (i cant spell)- Amazing. Go buy this now.

in the dark - great album from the later years, real solid

i just picked up blues for allah the other day, and europe 72 last week, can't get enough of the dead

Yea. Ive been into Phish and eventually the Dead sunk in. I think it was "Morning Dew" that I heard when I thought "yea, this is good. this is really good."
