| If you haven't heard of Explosions in the Sky, you need to. I'm not very good at describing bands, so I just copied this from another website. "Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever" - 2001 Made up of four soft spoken Texas lads, EITS makes music from the heart, for the heart. Steeped in sentimental melodies and dreamy soundscapes, each song lifts you in the air and carries you away, touching down on Earth occasionally to witness total destruction by way of their walls of cacophonous noise. Layers of chiming guitars become layers of metallic annihilation in the blink of an eye. Total silence to total violence, that's what we're talking about here, kids "The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place" - 2003 Picking up where Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever left off, The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place begins as a flickering twinkle that soon grows to a blinding light. This new sense of hope is the defining characteristic of this record, and ultimately the journey that their music takes us on. Immeasurably more dramatic and dynamic than their last album, The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place takes its shape not in the unexpected cacophony that had become the band's trademark, but in the infinitely deeper caverns of the human soul. With a soft heartbeat-like thump that grows stronger by the minute, the band is now closer than ever to replicating the simple movements that, when strung together, form the unpredictably complex machine that is the human body. Words simply cannot do this the justice that it deserves. It goes so far beyond elementary comparisons to other bands. The answer is somewhere between your head and your heart, and indeed, that is not a cold dead place. Let me know what you guys think.

Has anybody even heard these guys before? If you haven't, you are doing yourself a great injustice by not downloading them.

I really enjoy this band and I thought I would help spread the word. Their stuff is amazing when you're under the influence, and it's still damn good even if you aren't. ![]() Also, I wanted to throw out a few more bands that you guys would like if you haven't heard them already..... Sigur Ros Godspeed You Black Emperor! Portishead Sneaker Pimps Nick Drake Air Muse Radiohead Nine Inch Nails If those bands didn't exist, my life would be a lot worse. ![]()

Its good to know that I'm not alone in this. Its also refreshing to know that your taste in music overall is very similar to mine, as far as I can tell. Sigur Ros- Awesome...beautiful music capable of putting any pothead in a happy place. Godspeed You Black Emperor!- I really enjoy most of their stuff, but it is hard to listen to them "casually", because of the sheer length of alot of their songs. But that hasn't stopped me from buying 3 of their CDs. Portishead- Just recently started listening to them. Heard "Dummy" for the first time and was pretty impressed. Plan on at least downloading another of their albums (and then I will purchase it legally). Sneaker Pimps- Not familiar w/ them, but have heard of them. Downloading a couple songs now. Nick Drake- Have heard a couple people talk about him, but have no idea what its like. Downloading a couple of these as well. Air- Haven't heard much, but like what I heard. I plan on buying at least one of their albums next week. Muse- Once again, another awesome band that not enough people know about. Went to the Curiosa tour and was disappointed that they had to cancel the date "because of injury". Radiohead- Easily one of the most influential bands in my life. I saw them on the last tour, and it was easily the most amazing show I have ever been to. Nine Inch Nails- How can Trent Reznor go wrong (other than scrapping the Tapeworm project)? Can't wait for the new album. Dave Grohl on drums should be very interesting. If you enjoy the kind of music Explosions in the Sky play, then you should definately check out this band called Mono. They are a four-piece from Japan, and play in a very similar style as EITS. Their most recent album is amazing, and is called "Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined". Or try to check out "Under the Pipal Tree". Thanks for the response.

I'll have to look for some stuff by Mono. I'm glad to hear you're going to check out the bands I mentioned, you won't regret it. I have a bunch of NIN uploaded if you need any albums. I've got every single Halo and the Broken Video which was banned. PM me if you are interested and I'll give you some links. ![]()

I like Explosions, but not nearly as much as Sigur Ros. Those two bands definitely have some similarities.
