Wait, so is he retiring or no?

See? He can't be retiring...

Any music by eminem after the SSLP is garbage, tho I belive what he did with 50 Cent was good. He helped 50 with alot of his songs and 50s made alot of good songs.

LMAO.....50 is a joke compared to Eminem. He'd still probably be slangin rocks in the hood if Em and Dre didn't sign him.(actually, thats not true....many labels wanted him, but thats because his image is so perfectly expolitable, not because he was incredibly talented) Without Em, I don't 50 would have made it this far, if at all. I'll admit, I own both his albums, but doubt I'll ever by another. "Get Rich or Die Tryin" was decent, but I hate the other one.

How you can say that Em was garbage after the SSLP makes me wonder how you could dismiss the MMLP, which is a classic album of epic porportions, by not only my standards, but the standards of music critics worldwide. I'll admit the The Show and Encore were lacking, but he's still an amazing lyricist who could rap circles around 50 any day of the week......

whoa i wasnt thinkin, I do like some of his songs on the MMLP, totally forgot, but im not too much of an Em fan. I think 50 would have been succesful if em and dre didnt help him out but they did help him out a ton. Other than some of Ems hits, I really dont like to listen to alot of his music.
Oh, and on Em retireing, yesterday I was watching MTV2 and they had a show about 50 with g-unit, MOP, Mobb Depp and eminem and it was about their tour. Suchin pak was talking to eminem and 50 and eminem said that he was not at all retireing and he didnt know if he was going to make another album or another tour. So Eminem IS NOT RETIREING.

I also admit to not being that much more than a casual fan of his music. While I can respect his freestyle, which was as quick witted as anyone I can think of, save Notorius BIG.

As for his studio work. It was slick, lots of good music sampling,
and coupled with cute videos made it MARKETABLE, but not exaclty Rap Classics. But be honest, after what 2, maybe 3 albums of "Im white, I'm poor, I'm angry, and I hate my ex-wife, and mother, and want them dead." Now its more "I'm white, but black inside, i'm rich, but still want to live in the 'hood, I'm angry but weed & pills take care of that,...still hate my mom & ex-wife, but hey f**k them.."...

My other beef with him is this idol worship of Tupac...Seems like its becoming a damn movement these days. Not saying Tupac wasn't talented, he was even though I wasnt a fan of his music myself. Buyt there seesm to be this movement to turn him into a musical vrsion of Malcom X, which he sure as heck WASN'T. He wasn't saying anything that profound, he was just an exceptionally well versed rapper.

BUT, to be fair, its rap music, and its not supposed to be all that sane in the first place. And one thing no one can take away, Em on his own has a pretty damn good ear for talent, but teamed with someone like Dr. Dre, its a awesome combo.

But if he is going to retire from being a mainline rapper, and just stick to working behind the scenes its not like its the end of the world. Its just another step foward. He can still collaborate rap, can even write it for some people, let himself get some creds that way.
