Default Eminem retires

Reports: Eminem's Weary Of Fame, 'Encore' Is Last Album
By Nolan Strong
Date: 7/15/2005 3:19 pm

Eminem, born Marshall Mathers, is reportedly hanging up the microphone.

The Detroit Free Press reported that Mather’s latest album Encore will be his last release. Insiders told the paper that the rapper has been planning on retiring to concentrate on production and other ventures.

Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg told the paper that Encore was “certainly the cap on this part of his career” and that decision to retire was held off by the retirement of fellow Hip-Hop superstar, Jay-Z.

“He didn't want to seem like one of those guys who's playing a trick on his fans, or playing with their heads," Rosenberg told The Detroit Free Press. "It's part of the same struggle he goes through in his music -- 'How much of my inner thinking should I be putting out there?'”

Rosenberg also stated he was surprised no one caught on to the possibility of Eminem retiring, due to numerous clues on the Encore album. An insider also stated that Eminem has grown weary of the spotlight and was struggling writing as “Eminem.”

“Em has definitely gotten to the level where he feels like he's accomplished everything he can accomplish in rap," D-12 member Proof added. "He wants to kick back and get into the producing thing."

Insiders said Eminem’s inner-circle of friends knew in advance that Encore would be the best-selling rapper of all time’s last album.

Eminem is not doing interviews this summer and representatives for Eminem did not comment as of press-time.

Glad to hear him keep to his word and hang it up before he gets washed up. Just in time for tupac to come back from the grave. Em was something different all together. He was one of best and never really sold out. The SS lp never gets old, pure comedy. This is my dance song...

Infinite, SSLP, and MMLP are great albums. The Eminem Show and Encore are HORRIBLE albums.

I am glad he retired before he puts out another steaming pile.

He'll retire then come back a while later. That's how it goes I guess.

Despite the statements, rumors, and whatnot, I don't think he's gone for good. I don't think he's "topped himself" but I do think he realizes that hes going to have to put in a lot of effort in order to keep himself at the top. I've enjoyed at least parts of every album he's put out, but the newer stuff just doesn't compare to the pissed of Em I had grown fond of in the beginning. Someone needs to put some anger back into him, and tthen he'll be more likely to relase a better album next time. Right now, he has the world eating out of his palm, so there's really not much to be mad at anymore. Something will come along and piss him off though, wether it be some wack rapper dissin him to make a name for themselves (ala Benzino and Ja Rule) or Kim will do something incredibly dumb. He makes better music when hes angry, so someone piss him off for me!!

With the rep Eminem has it'd be hard to make another album and not dissapoint. What else has he got to talk about??? So many of his songs in Marshall Mathers LP and the Eminem Show had so many issues in his life covered, that is why Encore just lacked a bit, it had lyrical content that lacked meaning and didnt touch the heart like his other songs.
Wether or not he's gonna release another solo album doesn't mean we won't hear him feature in other songs. Infact I think the songs he has featured in shows off his best talent, (rythumly speaking) if you know what I mean....
Dr Dre is a producer and still bringin out another Album, I'm sure we'll hear a lot more of Eminem in the future.
