The song Jamaica Mistaka by Jimmy Buffet has kind of a reggae feel to it - steel drums and all that.

Any of the Marley Family (Damien, Ziggy, etc), beenie Man, Sean paul, Wayne Wonder, Buju Banton, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, john Holt, I wayne, Lucian, Sizzla, TOK, Capelton, Eek a Mouse,........i could go even further, but I'm at work, and my "collection" is at home. Having been there, I developed a deep interest in reggae/dancehall music while in Jamaica. music is literally EVERYWHERE there.....if you don't hear a band or sound system jamming, you're likely to encounter someone singing walking down the street, and as soon as you get off the plane, you are welcomed by Jamaican women singing "Welcome to Jamaica"......if you like that kind of music, its a must go destination, as you are literally immeresed in music the entire time....even the cabs have killer systems that they aren't afraid to jam! One of my favorite memories is listening to some tunes, with the bass shaking the mini-bus we were in, smoking a spliff on the way to get some off-topic tea, which happens to be legal there!!! Wish I had a pic, because I'm sure i was all smiles!!

tmk, you are destined for london. over here the carribean influence has created a weird drum and bass/dancehall ragga hybrid. its incredible stuff, untapped, fresh and raw. its literally a whole new hybrid culture...even the language has changed in london these days, veering towards jamaican slang. the whole music industry there has split from the traditional 'bling' of american influence to the untapped hub of ethnic london, and dancehall and its emcees and dj's are driving a cultural revolution. to the people of the uk; where do you think all this green suddenly came from anyway? we'd all still be on the soap if it weren't for the movement of the past decade or so, mark my words.
