i was wondering if anyone knew any good indie/alt music that was trippy. i found the occasional (OLD, new stuff isnt as good) modest mose song, ugly casanova , and various other indie acts to be great to listen to stoned, and seem to be trippy. you know any others?

The decemberists are a good indie band but im not sure if youll like them. I think there great but there a little "different"

compared to some of the pixies or ugly casanova thats pretty low key and sensible, but i checked them out and thats some pretty good stuff, thanks. but in terms of indie i have no idea what im talking about other than the cds i own (ive been out of touch for a while in terms of new music)

The Band Here and There has some trippy songs. The most trippy probably being "Mademoiselle Erb". Unfortunately, that song is only available if you purchase the CD...

But you can hear some other cool songs on the website though.

i forgot to mention califone which is a bit folky, but has some captivating songs and a lot of other good ones, although a bit folky and quite strange

the unicorns. they're an awesome band and i'd say some of their stuff can be trippy.. try jellybones.

Massive Attack, Guster, the Datsuns, Badly Drawn Boy, Built to Spill, Portishead are all semi-indie bands I like to listen to high.

Cibo Matto, especially anything off of Viva! La Woman. The ambience in Sugar Water will make you trip every time. Lots of cool sampling in their stuff.

Can someone give me a definition of indie music please because last I knew, it was just like unsigned bands and stuff, but now its like quite emo crap. Death Cab For Cutie comes to mind...my goodness they suck. No offence but if this is what indie music, what happened to the old definition? or have I always been misunderstood
