Owning your own studio is amazing, a couple friends of mine took out a 20 grand loan to get their studio going and these days they charge per the hour and are making bank. It's alright for some

You live in bristol? That's about a 20 minute drive from me, where about in bristol you live?

My brothers/friends are in a band called Here and There and they recorded and their whole album (named Cafe Soito) themselves with their own equipment. All they used was a computer running Cubase with a Motu sound card, as well as their Amps, Vocal mics, overhead mics, drum mics, etc.

Overall, a pretty cheap setup, and the stuff that was produced sounds a whole lot better than the stuff they recorded in my guitar teacher's studio, which consists of a room FULL of old analog equipment that probably cost a fortune (albeit, more time was put into the new album).

The studio is even quite portable. Their album was actually recorded in the Azores (islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean), and the whole studio was just shipped over there. They also bring the computer/soundcard to their shows and just hook all the seperate tracks from the soundboard into the computer, so they can get high quality live recordings that can actually be mixed.

**SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT**
I do suggest that you check out the band, if you like rock/jam/progressive/awiderangeof music.
you can hear the entire demo album, as well as 4 songs from the new album on either the Here and There Band Website or on the band's mySpace

(There is currently a problem with the music player, and for some reason, it seems to play other people's music!! So you might want to just listen from myspace

I currently live in Whaddon (cheltenham), it's basically the lower class area. Block flats, most of which have borded up windows and if you leave your car outside don't expect it to stay there for more than 10 minutes. If you ever want to see what a true drug addict chav looks like, come to Whaddon.

I've heard of Keynsham but don't know exactually where it is, how far away is it from the bristol border (aka the bridge going over the river).

Not too far, about 5 miles i think...

I takes about 15 mins to drive in through the lovely Bristol traffic...

Whaddon sounds like 95% of the towns in bristol...lol...
