Default Songs that should be banned from Classic Rock radio

1. Sweet Home Alabama - try listening to a classic rock station for an hour without hearing this song....

2. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin has other songs, you know

3. Sympathy for the Devil - The stones have much better songs, why play this one 90 times a day?

4. Any song by the band "Rush" - am I the only one thats sick of these guys?

5. All Along the Watchtower - Jimi has other songs, too...way better than this dylan cover that was done better by dylan to begin with.

OK thats all I can think of...hopefully you guys will be able to ad some more...

sry if i have mentioned one of your favorite songs.....its just that these radio stations act like theres only maybe 40 songs to choose from in the 40 years that rock has been in existance.....

What are you talking about, man!? Stairway to Heaven will never get old, in my opinion. Also, Rush is a kickass band. What do you have against them?

I agree....I don't think any music should be "banned". If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Change the CD, turn the station...no one is forcing you to listen to what you, personally, dislike.

Thank you! I was thinking the very same thing listening to the supposed classic rock station here in Orlando. So many songs that deserve no air time on a classic rock station. I have found myself listening to WJRR more.

Maybe I should have said "retired"....banned implies censorship, which I am definitely opposed to.....all i was saying is that there are kids out there who, thanks to these radio stations, think that stairway to heaven is the only hit led zeppelin ever had....give some of the other songs a spin....

Thats what I do, and thats why it irritates me....I love this era of music, but Id just like to hear a little more of the "lesser known" tunes instead of the same songs every single day

you would love my towns classic rock station, i rarely hear songs like stairway to heaven or all along the watch tower (they don't play nearly enough hendrix though ). hell, they only play led zep on there "Club Led" at 6, and it's rarely songs like stairway, immigrant song, or black dog.

of course i still love all of those songs (even freebird....I'M AS FREE AS A BIRD...sorry). it's not like i think they're the only good songs, they're just really good songs.

If you want to be strict about classic rock, then just keep it to the main years classic rock existed. That is, from the British Invasion of 1964, up until the last year that rock dominated the sales charts, in 1975. That stretch of 11 years, rock dominated the charts and had its biggest influence on the world in so many ways... There are plenty of lesser known bands from around the world that didn't get exposure the first time around and could be mixed in!
