Default Rock Vs. Rap

The fourm is dead, and I'm bored so lets see if we can get a little discussion/debate going

So what do you perfer Rap or rock?
Who are your favorite rappers/bands?
Why is One better then the other?

Personally I love them both. My favorite rappers are eminem, DMX, Lloyd banks, Tony Yayo and Dark lotus.
My favorite rock bands are system of a down, the beatles, led zeppelin, sublime, black sabbath, Iron maiden, and the who.

Tell me what you think, what geners better, and whose your favorite.

Peace

I like both my self too.

rap - I like Eminem, Juelz, Three 6 Mafia, Lil Wyte, Tech N9ne, Dipset, KottonMouth Kings(although some people dont call them rap) I listen too tons of other rap artists, but most time it's three 6 mafia.

rock - system of a down, slipknot, disturbed, and alot of others...sublime and linkin park but there not really rock.

I'm probley more 'into' rap but I really listen to everything besides country.

I listen to both, though recently I've been trying to get out of the whole "mainstream" thing.
I listen to a lot of the good old classic 80's songs. And if your too young to know what the good 80's songs are, don't knock me... It's the best that's out there.
...Take me Hoooooome tonight, I don't wanna let you go 'til I see the lighhht...

Also some of the rap is improving. I think Eminem is one of the most gifted lyrical emcee's out there. The beats are improving for the o=up-and-coming rappers, but all those "hip" rappers are getting way too soft for me. Too much sparkle, not enough MUSIC.

I agree. A lot of that crunk rap, and other people are way to soft. 80's music rocks too!

I use to much more of a rocker and anti-rap, but in recent years I've come around. My favorite 311 songs are the ones with the fastest rapping... it blows my mind how fast Nick, and SA especially, can spit out such complex lyrics.

Anyhow, my favorite "rock" bands are 311, Incubus, System of a Down, Static-X, Zebrahead, Foo Fighters, and Korn - Issues and earlier. Most of these bands could fit into several genres though - the word "rock" doesn't really cut it anymore.

Rap/Hip Hop favorites are Atmosphere, Tribe Called Quest, Tech N9ne, and the occassional Wu Tang.

Rock vs rap? thats easy....I'll take BOTH. My musical tastes are as varied as my moods. I'm content most days to put Media Player on shuffle, and listen to anything I may have.....might be Floyd one song, Styles P the next, the Sublime, and then Damain Marley, and then Yonder Mountain string Band or ICP. I used to ONLY listen to ""hardcore" music, meaning heavy metal or gangsta rap. Then.....I grew up and mellowed out. With that came a definite expansion of my musical tastes. Theres far too much out there to limit yourself to one genre or another. You'd be amazed at how much good music there is out there (as long as you don't use MTV to determine what to buy/listen to).

Indignant....if you're referring to that video on Kazaa or whatever that shows that group of kids smoking up hardcore, I think the song is "Buddah Smoker's Only". I'll doublecheck tomorrow, but I think thats it....and its available on every p2p program i've used....
