| dude the freaking mars volta isn't just a trippy ass band, they're one of the most original, creative bands out there. Each member of the band has their own amazingly awesome original talent to add to the amalgam of sonic greatness. I would have to say they are by far my favorite contemporary band. Also, if you think televators was trippy, you're in for a treat because they have many other songs with that "trippy" quality to them. Also if you're a musician you can truly appreciate what they do as musicians. Damn, I fuckin love the mars volta. |

| I've been into Cedric and Omar since ATDI. They DO put on an amazing show. Pick up Scab Dates. It's a comp of a bunch of different live sets. Also I suggest Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez's A Manual Dexterity-Soundtrack Volume 1. It has less structure than TMV and most of it's instrumental but it's phenomenal. Supposedly he's going to release a film and that's the soundtrack to it. Edit: Also I'd like to add that Omar has no formal instruction on how to play guitar. He's all self-taught, and I think that adds to the originality of his compositions. |
