What happened to all the good rap that I grew up listening to?? Everything that comes out now is either stupid or sounds just like another song. For example D4L's Betcha Can't Do it Like me and Dem Franchise Boyz Lean wit it, rock wit it sound almost exactlly the same. What's some stuff thats out thats Rap and not Pop

IMO most of the rap that's coming out isn't really supposed to be mainstream. These songs belong in the strip club or somewhere similar. There's some good rap out there though. I know you've heard of MosDef, Talib K., not a big fan of Common though. There's some good rap coming out of Texas, check out Trae, Z-Ro, Chamillionare. Paul Wall and Mike Jones aren't my favorite because their content is pretty monotonous, but those other guys have some good stuff. Good rap is basically underground and independent.

well it aint rap, but it sure as fuck is an original sound. not something i'd recommend as the greatest example in terms of skibba's emceeing quality, but hey it's about the djs yeeeaah??

Mainstream artists that I like are Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Jay-Z, Nas, Three 6 Mafia, T.I., The Roots, Talib Kweli, Gorillaz, Nappy Roots, and last but definately not least Outkast.
