software only for creating beats isn't going to get you far really.

if you don't mind spending money then pickup an mpc, but really thats just the start of the costs.

my friend makes his beats for his raps. ummm i dont think he uses a program its something online id google it.

I'm using fruity loops. Take the time to learn how to use it, it's a really powerful program but pretty simple to get started. To make something professional sounding will take time, but it's fun to learn new stuff on there stoned. Just read the manual and then play around on it for a bit.

i dont know if fruity loops has more than one version of their program, but the one it tried was really restrictive as far as instrument choice and effects go. some of the cakewalk programs are really nice, but my friend has a program called reason that a few artists i like use. he matches it up with another program that samples really well, but i forget the name.

Thatd be real cool if you could somehow find out what that sampling program he uses is called. That is mainly what I want to do, sample.
