Default Kick Push opening a new genre???

Lupe Fiasco's new hit Kick Push seems to be opening yet a new hiphop hybrid. This song in my opinion has a brand new sound and style to it that mixes hiphop and skaterkidmusic for lack of a better term

On a sidenote, how far do you think hiphop genres will go next. Maybe goth-rap, classical-rap, punk-rap... the possibilities seem endless.

Hip hop has been part of skateboarding culture long before this guy decided to rhyme about it. As far as the style and sound I don't find it very unique.

I think the mainstream will continue to exploit music and rape the shit out of it until it's like throwing a hot dog down a hallway, and the indie scene will continue to evolve and branch out borrowing elements from various genres and blending them into a sound of their own.

Edit: Sorry if that came off sounding a little harsh. I'm not taking jabs at you personally, just stating my opinion.

Cool yea I understand what you are saying. I figured there were that kind of genre a little out there already but this really made a strong connect. But my main point was to ask many more genres can be unlocked with hiphop.

The possibilities are endless. It all depends on where artists are willing to take it. It's about not being afraid to do something different, even if it might not be widely accepted. Most genius' were labeled as lunatics in their own time. Usually takes the masses a few years (or hundreds) to catch up.

That's like a non-smoker saying they don't like "Those stoner types". Open your mind. Not everyone that skates is riding Bam Margera's jock or have that "skate and destroy" mentality, causing mischief at every turn. It's about having fun, or really making fun from otherwise decaying urban landscapes. I find it beautiful. Everyone has their unique style and see the world with their own unique view and "lines" For this we're treated like criminals, social outcasts, losers with no direction. And since most skaters are young they don't pose much of a threat to building owners, planners, developers, legislators etc. It's sad that people are looked down upon for ultimately doing something positive with themselves.

I think the lyrics are pretty corny, eg.

" ... Uh, he said I would marry you
But I'm engaged to these arials and variels
And I don't think this board is strong enough to carry two
She said Bow, I weigh 120 pounds
Now, let me make one thing clear
I don't need to ride yours
I got mine right here ..."

But, what the lyrics lack, the beat makes up for it fully. Like you said very inventive and fresh.

I could dig some classical/hip-hop, mozarts requiem would be insane to remix with a beat and some lyrics.
