| I'm going to go to two consecutive String Cheese Incident shows (my first and probably only opportunity to see them live), and want to document and preserve the memory as best as I can. I understand that SCI allows standard still photos minus the flash. I was planning on purchasing a new digital camera that can also do video for short 30-second or so clips ![]() Next comes to the audio. I have no idea what type of recording gear I'd need to do this--where I'd want to be sitting/standing for good soundstaging... I have adobe audition on my comp, so messing with the raw sound files won't be that hard--im more worried about how to set myself up harware-wise and technique-wise.. The first show will be outside, 1200 tix being sold. The second show is a 21 and over, indoor show. 900 tix sold. We will all be seated in a "dinner theatre", complete with a bar on the back of each seat to set your dinner/drinks on. It's really a sweet venue. Besides that, the venue micro-brews their own off topic beverages. ![]() So where would I want to be sitting? What kind of recorder should I be looking at? Microphone placement? Ask the soundboard guy if I can jack in? Do I want to record the indoor or outdoor show? Anyone? LOL!

| If you're not into tapping as a hobby it'd be a pretty big waste of money to go get all the equipment for just two shows. You can usually, if not always, find bootlegs of shows online, and often times SCI sells recordings of their shows through their record label. This site usually has shows a week or two after the performance http://www.archive.org/audio/etreeli...e.php?mode=mp3

| to get a good audio recording it will take lots of money in equipment and lots of knowledge to make it come out right. i would just wait and get it online, my recommendation is http://bt.etree.org/browse.php the shows will absolutely be released. and there is usually a tapers section at shows where all the tapers set up, which is usually the only place you are allowed to tape. the recorders those people use cost a lot of money, and there is next to no chance that you will be able to patch into the sound board. just bring the camera if you are allowed.
