I used the search feature and realized that there is not an elliott smith thread. Is anyone else out there a huge elliott smith fan like me? Theres not a day that goes by that i dont think about him and his death. I mean that's an exaggeration but his music has played a big part of my life and helped get me through a period where i was in a very dark place. His music entered my life and from that poin on has lived within me. Also, i have been thinking a lot latley which one of his albums is my favorite...i can never decide they are all so genious in their own ways...but i might have to go with Either/Or. I love em all but if i had to choose ONE favorite album i think it might be that one. If there are any other fans out there, what is yours? peace.

I love Elliot Smith. His music is so incredibly beautiful. It's tragic that someone who was capable of creating such beauty wasn't capable of seeing enough beauty to go on living. I watched Royal Tenebaums last night and noticed that during the part where Luke Wilson's character tries to kill himself they play Needle in the Hay in the background. I wonder if they did that because Elliot Smith killed himself...

So many good Elliot Smith tracks I could'nt possibly narrow it down to one, or ten. He is amazing. His Jealous Guy and Don't Fear the Reaper covers are top notch. Ok, Say Yes is probably my favorite by Elliot. Or maybe not.

| I love Elliott Smith's music. A friend of mine introduced me to it about a year ago and I am so grateful. I had his album Either/Or for a while and then he loaned me a copy of XO. In my opinion XO is a much better album. Actually I have been kind of addicted to it lately. I've been living in the Czech Republic the past 5 months and for some reason I have listened to it so much over here. He says exactly what he is thinking. He doesn't filter out anything and I really love that, his music is so bare and uncensored. Not that he swears a lot or anything, he just isn't afraid to say his thoughts no matter how dark they were. It is such a tragedy that he passed away. Imagine the great records he would have put out since his death.

I love Elliott Smith, he's one of my very favorite artists. My favorite song by him is probably Waltz #2. I feel a different connection with him than any other artist. I'm glad I didn't listen to his music before he committed suicide; that would tear me apart more than it already does now.

Yeah, I really like Elliot Smith. I love how deep and intricate his music is when even though it is usually just him and his guitar. He was a very deep person and it is a shame that he died. He is one of my favorite musicians, mainly because he put a lot of his emotion into his music. I dug up this link where you can download or stream some of his live music (some of the links to stream/download don't work) click *Sorry to bring back a month old topic, but did not know whether or not to start a new one.
