Default What songs do you reccommend for downloading?

Hmm.. I dont really want anymore programs cause they dont work, but I finally have it so my comp doesnt crap out every 10 seconds into music and restart.

Soo.. I have my program for downloading music, and I wanna know some songs that all the stoners on here think are good.
Im not going to download them all, but ill at least listen to them. o.O

I dont really have a paticular type of music I like above all others.
I just kind of like music with beat, maybe 80s kind of music xD
I dont know really I was born into the wrong generation.
Alot of the music now sounds really similar O.o
Like some bands keep coming out with the same song.

Recently I've been on a roots adventure, getting into a lot of old-time music, stuff that is pure, without the thought of selling records, making videos, promoting one's image. Mostly been getting into older blues (Robert Johnson, Son House, Muddy Waters) and bluegrass (Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley).

Some albums/collections I'd recommend...
  • Bill Monroe - Bluegrass 1959-1969
  • Ralph Stanley - A Distant Land To Roam
  • The Deliverance Soundtrack
  • Any of the 'Martin Scorcese presents the blues' collection

And I'd definitely recommend, with two great big green thumbs up, Old Crow Medicine Show. They're a young band out of Nashville that play some wonderful style of music, that I'd classify as bluegrass but is so much more. Check out their 'OCMS' album and the new 'Big Iron World'. And be sure to download 'Wagon Wheel', a damn good song.

Enjoy!

Well, if you like the Grateful Dead, or any jam band kind of music, i would definitley make a trip to www.nugs.net for some killer free shows. Personally, i could spend hours downloading shows on that site.

If you like the blues, i would highly recommend some Mississippi John Hurt or Skip James, both are very relaxing as far as blues go and they each have very sweet, peaceful voices. Great to listen to while high.

Also anything by Bob Marley or Peter Tosh is great for a listen, but that pretty much goes without saying. Some of my favorite marley tunes would be Soul Almighty, Fussin and Fightin, Burnin and Lootin, Small Axe, Rebel's Hop, Kaya, African Herbsman, etc. Look for any of those and i'm sure you'll be impressed.

so yeah, hope those help.

Thumbs up

I have a feeling no one is going to agree with me on this one but I don't care. Listening to the album Mother's Milk from the Red Hot Chili Peppers over a nice fat joint with your buddies IS HEAVEN! One of the Peppers best albums. Check it out.

Anything by Pink Floyd.

Anything by Sublime.

Anything by Bob Marley.

The Flaming Lips
TV on the Radio
Muse - hey now, some of the new stuff is pretty awesome...
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Tech N9ne (Representin' KC MO)
John Butler Trio
Bayside
MuteMath - local band for me, but they're great, especially since you said you liked kinda 80's techno...
Nine Inch Nails

And since I could go on forever, my one and only MUST download is (in my opinion) the ultimate stoner song...Sweet Mary by Equalizer.
