So, I was feeling creative earlier and t'inked up the following:

Quote:
MTV provided a vehicle with which labels could further cut and paste and stamp-brand music into corporate logos, cliches and stereotypes.

MTV turned music into naval gruel and felled generations with creative scurvy, and whenever a scene has arisen in protest selling the raw lime and Vitamine C we crave the bastards have squeezed out all the goodness and left us with a synthetic, citrus flavouring not good enough for domestic cleaning products.
Feel free to discuss the Satanic, corporate deity that is MTV in this thread.

MTV is the great satan.

No other entity is as responsible for all that shit that is considered music. MTV has shifted the focus of music from the talent of the artist to the tits on the 16 year old who is singing.

If it weren't for MTV there would be far less shitty music in the world. There would be no Britney Spears, JA Rule, Creed, Nickleback, Three Doors Down, Jay-Z, Nelly, Green Day, Good Charlotte, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, and Puddle of Mudd just to name a few off the top of my head.

The previously mentioned bands have 0 talent and apply a corporate formula to everything they do so that it is as catchy as possible so they make as much money as possible.

They do it for the money and if it weren't for MTV they wouldn't make a single dime and we wouldn't be punished by their existence.

MTV is more responsible for conservative values infiltrating kids' heads than Fox News. MTV teaches us that women are objects and deserve to be treated as such. There isn't a single woman on MTV who is decent human being. They're all sluts who just fuck anything that moves and we're supposed to believe that they're somehow good people. It also teaches us that those who have original thoughts are outsiders and are meant to be treated as such. If you watch MTV before long you'll have the overwhelming urge to just fit in. It makes shitty people look like good role models. Guys who can't speak a complete sentence are viewed as bad asses (Thanks JA Rule and Jay-Z!) while women who show the most skin are viewed as having the most gravity.

If I didn't care so much about music then I wouldn't hate MTV so much. But if it weren't for MTV, rap would still be about something, emo wouldn't exist (reason enough to hate MTV forever), and women who don't have DDs would be able to have a singing career. I'm pretty sure I hate MTV more than I hate Bush or anything else I can think of right now...god damn emo.

MTV has sucked for over a decade. There was a time when they actually played music videos throughout the day, now they play one video and shove 23:55 of non music related crap down your throat. Want actual music? Then you have to get mtv2 and that just sucks. I've since moved on to radio, as least the dj's have a keep it real attitude.

I stopped watching MTV after Beavis and Butthead ended. I have great memories of throwing parties during a B&B Moronathon, those were good times.

I agree, i always watched MTV when shows like sand blast, beavis and butt-head was on with new episodes. That was one of our favorite shows. Tom Greens show was funny, that was original stuff before jackass go started on there.

MTV has changed and that station is too much about ratings. You can't call Real World the real world anymore.

Radio isn't all it's cracked up to be anymore. It's bad when there isn't many independent FM owned stations around the country anymore where they could take your request but always be about your music. I see radio today to be just as annoying as the changes MTV has made. They are just pushing certain artists onto the people. Corporate playlists run by Clear Channel and one other corporation i think called Infinity has created a monopoly out of stations across America. Ten years ago a bill was signed by Clinton allowing corporations to buy up to 100 stations instead of 8 stations. They started buying and changing stations overnight and eliminating a lot of music that people like hearing. They are playin songs by certain money making artists over and over again and then move onto the next song by that money making artist and play it over and over. It's keeping people un aware of other good bands. To put it another way, MTV and FM radio has gone to hell.

im glad im not the only human being that still hates MTV with a passion. IMO theres never anything worth watching at all. its all about popularity and money. especially the shows they got on there. i sat threw a few episodes of the "reality shows" and they were anything but reality. everythings in a specific order and EVERY SINGLE SHOW has an order to follow too. rarely is there a single show that shows individuality and interest to me. the closests i've seen of late is jackass. every other show is either bulls*** and/or fake. lit_match is right, i dont see a whole lot of music on MUSIC TELEVISION anymore. when they do show some, it sucks and its only a minute long. its obvious they've turned their backs on real music that say more then keepin' it gangsta and money's everything.

worst of all, the kids in high school are still buying into the messages and conforming to stereotypes. its a shame when something that was good and decent at one time, blows big d*** 20 or so years later.

While I agree with the basic sentiment of what you are saying, I don't think Jay-Z belongs in your rant. Hova is considered by many TRUE hip-hop fans to be one of tha all time great MC's, along with nas, 'pac, biggie, etc. To act as though he is in the same league as My Chemical Romance or Good Charolette is flat out wrong in my opinion. jay-Z was running the streets, building fans as a relative unknown, before MTV had anything to do with his success. MTV came to HIM because of HIS fame, and not vice versa. Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Eminem, etc have all had videos that played on MTV. Are you actually going to tell me their success had nothing to do with their true talents, and instead were simply part of MTV's master plan to force them down our throats? Sorry buddy, but there isn't an artist I've mentioned thus far that I wasn't a fan of long before they made thier Mtv debut.

And how is "objectifying women" a "conservative value"? I've been lost on that particular connection evver since you mentioned it first in the 9/11 thread refrencing South Park.
