Anyone excited about the new album? I was a bit disappointed with the last couple of albums, but after reading this
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/155...ch_nails.jhtml

I have high hopes for the new album coming in April. Even if the album blows, you've got to admit its a pretty cool marketing scheme. hopefully someone doesn't turn it into another version of the ATHF fiasco.....after all, I'm sure someone somewhere feels threatened by these websites.....

I am.
I've been a NIN fan since waaaay back....

Saw them (him?) live with David Bowie in Cleveland. Awesome show.
I also have bootlegs of a few NIN shows, namely Woodstock '94 and the Fresno show that kicked off their most recent tour.

I've always been a NIN fan as well. Pretty Hate Machine is one of my all-time favorite albums. Howevber, "with teeth" just didn't do it for me. Not sure what it was i didn't like, but I just wasn't feeling that album at all. Of course, i didn't like the album "Lateralus" by TOOL either, and many consider it their best work. I'm just hoping NIN's new album is either something completely new and revolutionary, or a nod back to NIN's earlier work like "The Downward Spiral"

NIN is one band that i'm still glad to see around, really liked their stuff during the 90's. Many bands from that decade have broken up, but it's good to see them still producing new music. Should be interesting to see how their latest album turns out. I started listening to Green Day about 13 years ago and some of the stuff they put out now I don't think was as good as the songs on their older albums. They have over 30 new recorded songs waiting for release onto new albums so i'm waiting to see how that will be too.

I just listened to one of the leaked tracks and it is quite good. I'm certainly looking forward to the new album.

I am a HUGE nin fan. After Tool, trent Reznor ranks as number 2. Pretty Hate Machine is by far his favorite piece of work imo.

ANyway- I liked with teeth. Some parts were rather boring/repetitive, and some rather not -nin'ish I still liked it. I mean any material he releases is better than half of the filth on the market today.

I am very excited for the new album. Glad to here your a NIN fan too troublemaker

edit://

Whoa shit. I looked up the wikipedia for the album (hadn't checked it in a few days, wanted to see if any new information is there)

Well look at it for yourself; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Zero_(album)

or if you lazy; what I found interesting;

"Leaks"

Near Valentine's Day 2007, the track "My Violent Heart" was purportedly found on a USB drive in a bathroom at a NIN show in Lisbon, Portugal. It quickly circulated the internet and gained notoriety on Digg.[14][15] Another USB drive containing "My Violent Heart" was also purportedly found in Madrid, Spain,[16] suggesting that these are planned "leaks," and part of the overall viral marketing campaign for the album.

A clip of the chorus to "Survivalism" can be heard by calling the telephone number 1-310-295-1040, which was found by joining discolored numerals on the back of a tour t-shirt. ((Dude, call the number and listen to this!!!! I JUST did it and it was some crazy shit....))[17]

"Survivalism" has also quickly circulated the internet since its first radio on play on February 16, 2007.[citation needed]
The spectrogram of the phenomenon known as the Presence, found at the end of the supposedly leaked "My Violent Heart."
The spectrogram of the phenomenon known as the Presence,[12] found at the end of the supposedly leaked "My Violent Heart."

On February 19th, "Me, I'm Not" was found on a flash drive in Barcelona, Spain, much in the same way that "My Violent Heart" was in Lisbon, further suggesting that the leaks are intentional.[18] Also included on the flash drive was another .mp3 file that, when analyzed through a spectrogram, revealed another phone number, 216-333-1810 which is an audio transcript of U.S. Wiretap Account #71839J.

The Presence

The last few seconds of the leaked "My Violent Heart" file is static; spectrogram analysis reveals an image resembling an arm extending down with fingers at the bottom. This arm is known as "The Presence" according to MTV.com. ((DUde this is toooo wierd!!))[12]

NIN is great, and I'm definetely excited for their new album.

And I thought With Teeth was a great album, personally. The Hand That Feeds - LOVE It

The only one I never could get into is The Downward Spiral, ack! Weird to hear, I know because most people love this album.

How could you not like the downward spiral?

I find that absolutely insane that you would prefer with teeth over the downward spiral (by many considered a masterpiece).

My 2 favorite nin songs are on downward spiral; hurt and piggy.

"hey pig piggy pig pig pig!"

Anyone here get that live cd he made? And all that could have been?

It is absolutely amazing, especially with the live changeups in some of the songs.

Like I said, most people react like that when they hear how I feel about it, lol.
But Hurt and Piggy are a couple of the only ones I like on the album, Hurt probably being one of my top 3 favorite NIN songs...so I guess I don't fully hate the album, but I skip through a lot of the songs.

I like the Downward Spiral....but...I have to be in a certain mindset to really get into it. AS for "All that could have been"......I love the album, but its one of the only...if not THE only....album I've ever had to remove from my CD player because it was too intense when I was high. Don't know what it was, but that day i couldn't STAND to listen to NIN in that condition!
