Cool General concert review and critique thread.

I go to hundreds of live concerts, but I don't have a weblog to catalog them. I don't really care to do that, since most of the concerts I've seen were forgettable anyway.

I thought I'd start this thread with the last concert I saw:

Mastodon: A HEAVY rock band with a super sick, really powerful drummer. The singer looks like this crazy goat guy, and sounds like it. Still, the mosh pit was churning and the band rocked the house.

I didn't see anyone get hurt, and I don't think anyone got kicked out for being too rowdy.

One drawback was the huge crowd of guys and very few girls. Still, a lot more fun than "Kaiser Chiefs" which I saw a few days earlier (lots of girls).

Another good band I saw this week was "Arctic Monkeys". They aren't as noisy, and have a good clean heavy sound. I've seen them before, and really like their style.

Feel free to review any concert here, or respond to any posts with your own critique.

Saw Tom Petty at Summerfest last year. Was an amazing show. Lots of energy from the band, everyone in the crowd was chill, and just an all around good time. Id give it an A for sure.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also went to see Dragonforce along with Chimaira.

Chimaira was very intense. It was a loud concert obviously and the crowd really got into em. Not exactly my type of music but still alot of fun. Id give them a B.

Dragonforce
also kicked ass. Not as much energy from the crowd as Chimaira but still very good. The guitar was amazing and I liked the band itself up on stage a lot. Id give them an A-.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went to Warped Tour a year or two ago also. Dont remember a lot from it but I know I saw Less Than Jake, Bouncing Souls, NOFX, Anti-Flag, and a few others. Less Than Jake and Anti-Flag were pretty awesome (B+) and NOFX and Bouncing Souls were not bad by any means (B/B-).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally Ill rate the Pink Floyd Experience. This show was amazing. Cool lighting effects, the sound was awesome, they had a big inflatable pig with wings flying around for a bit...just incredible to listen to. Easily an A.

I went to last years flip the switch with Nofx, Against Me!, Protest the Hero, Hostage Life and the Cancer Bats, and The Gorgeous.

The only bands I really like would have to be Against Me (B) and Protest the Hero (B-) but I was really there for Nofx (A+) and they were phenomenal.

Moshing was intense and the bar they had there was tasty. Lots of fights and people getting kicked out before the concert really even started, like during that day and all. Bathrooms lines were super long and the cops were going a little nuts from all the drugs and booze.

All in all though, I had a good fuckin' time. If I could describe it in two words it would be Awesome and Bloody lol.

I fuckin love chimaira as well... i just love their overall sound ... so heavy... so hard... its awesome but have yet to see them in concert

however i have seen dragonforce... saw them at ozzfest last summer it was full of win ... they were off in some parts.. prolly cause they'd been on tour for like a month or so ... but it was still awesome

the last concert i saw was Lamb of God and Opeth 2 of my favorite bands and i got to see them in one night. michael akerfeldt from opeth was funny as hell and even tho they only got to play like 4 songs (30 minute set) it still kicked all kinds of ass. And lamb of god put on one of the best shows i've ever seen it was brutal, there was a great mosh... they didnt get to do the wall of death tho cause it was a fairly small venue

no that i think of it, i more recently saw Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, and Bury Your Dead

another brutal concert that kicked all ass... adam d (guitarest for KE) was so funny, some girl threw a bra up on stage and, while playing, picked it up with the head of his guitar and was swinging it out over the crowd... it was so awesome.. cant wait to see them again

also... sorry this post is so long rofl

I also go to many shows. A couple of the last ones i have seen were Chevelle, who was a lot better live than i thought they would be. Brand New, which was kind of a less cool show. And The Roots, which as always are incredable.

I give Chevelle a B+
Brand New B-
The Roots A+

Some other note worthy bands

Shadows Fall - excellent musicians, even better live performers (must see)B+
Red Hot Chili Peppers- don't have to coment on these guys. A
GWAR- Awesome live show, definitly a must see. A for show alone.

I saw Wolfmother last month... those guys are great!

Dragonforce... what can one say about this band? They are ridiculous, but fascinating at the same time. The concert was pretty funny, but try listening to those guys on head phones... I had to delete them from my iPod right away so it wouldn't break.

I saw KE, thought Chaimera was way better.

Dragonforce is pretty gay to me. Singer sounds awful and the guitar playing, while extremly fast, is VERY cheesy. Kind of reminds me of Dream Theater.
