Default Porcupine Tree Concert

For those few porcupine tree fans that are on these boards, I just got back from baltimore where me and a few friends saw Porcupine Tree perform live at the Ram's Head.

Setlist was as follows:
Fear of a Blank Planet
Lightbulb Sun
My Ashes
Anesthetize
Open Car
Gravity Eyelids
Drown With Me
Sentimental
Blackest Eyes
Smart Kid
Sever
Way out of Here
Sleep Together

Encore:
Even Less
Mother and Child Divided
Halo

It was funny when they played Blackest Eyes because Steve forgot the lyrics during the 3rd Chorus and sang "la la la, I forgot the fucking words, la la la."

mother and child divided is one of my Favorite songs and i was a little sad when they finished the show (pre-encore) without it, i figured it wouldnt be an encore song. But after even less (another of my most fav. songs by them) they broke into M&C D and i was screaming to my friends YES YES YES!! it was definetly the most awesome concert i have ever seen

also ... the band that opened for them was a band called "3" they were really really good, i was very impressed with what they played and i will definetly have to acquire all of their music

anyway... sorry for the long post but I had an amazingly great time!

:edit:
also i got to smoke for the first time in like 2 months last weekend... so its been an over all awesomely awesome week :P

I went to the concert last week, too.

The band three has some chops, but they're one of those bands where each member (there are 5) has to play louder, faster, and harder than the other guy. If you like shred with no breakdown, check it out. *3 Stars*

Porcupine tree was a little better, in the sense that they have songs that are more distinctive/distinguishable. They don't play full speed all the time, and are able to 'break it down' to a mellow mode (so your gf can take a bathroom break).

During the show the singer asked for people to raise hands who had never drank or done drugs in their whole life. The couple sitting in front of my friends raised their hands and he laughed and sparked up a big bowl just for them. They were PISSED and had to find a different place to watch. Fortunately the security doesn't hassle people for smoking weed; they just do their job and tell you that someone complained, can you please go to the other side of the theatre to smoke. That's pretty cool.

The fans seemed to like the 'tree', and my friend 'Sam Alito' was digging the whole show, even bobbing his head when the rest of the crowd was just standing there, bored.

I give them *4 stars out of 10 for showing up and rocking out, but deductions for being TOO prog and not enough rock. Where's RUSH when you need them?

It was the singer of 'tree who announced being totally sober. He was bragging, it seemed. He was introducing a psychedelic song and stating that drugs weren't necessary to experience psychedelia.

My friend, on the other hand, is old enough and knows enough to respect other people and not smoke in their faces if they aren't into it.
