I agree with you, music is about sound. People do prefer a genre of music because they like listening to it, not because of the skill involved. This is why it is irrelevant if is harder to scream in the same key that the music is played in than it is to sing. This "fact" does not prove anything and is why I made my original post. You responded with a diatribe about musical preference when I was not attacking his musical preference at all. Hence, many of your points are correct, but misdirected. I was simply saying that skill should not factor in to a preference for a particular genre. You can listen to whatever you like, with no regard to skill.

No that would not be me talking shit about metal. It's a summation of my post that agrees with you. People listen to music because they like it. Telling people it takes skill to sing in a certain key or play a guitar riff means nothing, as there is much music out there that takes plenty of skill and no one listens to, sometimes with good reason. You just misinterpreted my original post as some bash against metal and came out in full defense of it, when it was unneeded.

Yeah I agree with that. The one thing I hate about ASP is how they all yell into the microphones to get that "tough guy" sounds. Other than that, their shit is brutal as hell. I love how they slow their breakdowns wwaaayyy down. I call them meltdowns, heh.
