Default Gotta have my metal

Say what you will about the genre, for whatever reason, I love listening to metal when I'm high. It gets me pumped like nothing else.

I was really into Dragonforce for a while. Same with Otep's "Hooks and Splinters", for some reason. It scares the hell out of my friends. I'm in love with Arch Enemy right now, though.

Anyone else get this?

I used to be a huge metal head, but now I don't even listen to it anymore.

Check out In Flames. All there older releases are better, but you will probably like there new stuff too.

If your into death metal, check these bands out:
Cannibal Corpse (of course), Nile, Hate Eternal, Suffocation.

Metal is the best genre of music to listen to, high or not. The musicianship is by far the greatest, compared to anything. And contrary to what the majority of people may think, to actually scream in the same key that the music is being played in, is much harder than singing. So yes, you do need your metal and so does the rest of the world. :P

I'll suggest a few bands off the top of my head, you may or may not have heard of:

All that Remains
Decapitated
Necrophagist
As Blood Runs Black
All Shall Perish
Cephalic Carnage

Check those bands out.

Very well said. Unfortunately, only true metalheads will know what you're really talking about.

I saw people mention the bands All that Remains and the Human Abstract, both of which I saw live just a couple of months ago at Jaxx in VA. Human Abstract was pretty cool, but All that Remains was fucking godlike that night. I even got to hang out with Phil (lead singer of ATR) at the bar before they went onstage. They're all awesome guys and they put on fucking amazing shows.

My favorite metal bands at the moment: slipknot, all that remains, ill nino, in flames, mudvayne, disturbed, 36 crazyfists, pantera, metallica, trivium, atreyu, chimaira, parkway drive, waterdown

Bro I could introduce you to a whole new level of metal that would melt your face off and singe your asshairs. If you would like to be introduced, let me know and I'll send you a PM with names of some good bands.

I'll definitely check out In Flames, as I've heard a lot about them. I was really into Atreyu's first few releases, before they became more mainstream.

if you want a cool technical metal band, august burns red are a damn good band
www.myspace.com/augustburnsred
they don't have the solos and stuff like dragon force but they are a very complex, weird timing kind of band, always switching things up. the drummer is absolutely insane. THere is absolutely no singing so if you like melodic metal you won't like, but for heavy, inteanse good metal with excellent musicianship, check them out

40 seconds into composure, the first song on there, just wow, such incredible timing between the band members, seriously check it out if you dig heavy stuff

Woah, that song was badass. I listen to a lot of shit besides metal as well, so I'm always trying to find new sounds. I'm also really into technically superior music, like Tool (obviously). Constantly motivates me to become a better musician.

If you're into stuff like that, check out this band, Keelhaul. They were listed in a recent issue of Revolver, and they're kickass.

I wouldn't say that Atreyu became "mainstream". They're just not a brutally heavy band or anything, they're a metalcore band. They still sound the same as they did on their first album in my opinion. A Deathgrip on Yesterday was still an awesome album, it just sucks that it was so short. I think they are releasing another album soon though.
