Carter is a sweet drummer, this is my favorite video of him:

Kdub - you put the number/letter code in between [ /youtube] (no space though). On you tube the code is after the v=, so on your video its KOatIrazULw.

No mention of Chad Smith of the Chili Peppers? He's definately up there in my favorites along with Neil Peart and John Bonham

I cant believe no one has said Buddy Rich, who could drum Neil Peart right out of the water. Mitch Mitchell. Andrew Forsman has influenced me as well.

Danny Carey, hands down.

I couldn't find a video that showed him playing Ticks & Leeches up close since they don't play it very often due to the strain it puts on Maynard's voice. But if anyone has not heard the song, you need to. It is some of the greatest drumming ever.

I believe the bass drum was 22 x 18 I believe. It sounded fucking amazing, I have a double bass setup and became exceptionally good at 16th rolls and triplets. I played in a garage metal band, we were actually decent and just gamed every day after school.
(2) mounted toms
(2) floor toms
hi-hat
china symbol
small crash/ride
Crash
like a 22'' Ride symbol
mounted tamborine
cowbell/woodblock setup
(4) bongos
and I have 2 snares, one of them is a wooden Pearl which I think sounds the best and the other is a Tama metal (came with set) which isn't of the superstar model, but a newer thing. I have a hard time making the snarewires not vibrating from the other drums, I hate it, but its loud as fuck.

It is currently tucked away because I don't have a space to set it up (has been that way for about a year, 19 now). I wish I had a picture of it all set up because it was one gnarly set.

I also play the synthesizer. I have an Alesis micron and I have only had it for a few months, but it keeps me occupied creating music. I haven't been able to record because that is like a whole nother world, all the programs are so complicated, but I have been making some awesome stuff on it (it has a computer for creating song setups) I also have a yamaha drum machine which is fun to play with. It is like one o the ones you buy at Costco but it is handy nonetheless, metronome, simple/bckgrnd beats, etc.

I also made a point of getting a wide variety of drum sticks which I still have. I have the Danny Carey signature model in fact, 2 pairs of them - they are by far my favorite.

I really wish I could set it up, I find myself always air jamming. If I had any drummer I considered my biggest influence it was Tim Alexander, I loved Primus to death between ages like 14-17 when I moved on to a mostly metal diet. Tim 'Herb' just had one sick groove, but Danny Carey is just so amazing. I really like Portnoy myself too. I have a few Dream Theatre albums and I always love the drum work (my only complaint is the singer in a few songs), I like the song Glass Prison and the two albums Octavarium and Train of thought. I forgot what there best album is but I really need to get it.

Oh btw I have this awesome tshirt of a skeleton drummer which I am wearing right now, .

oh and st. anger = worst album to date. Metallica has an ongoing hate in my heart, the band may have BEEN great but they are has beens now. People need to realize that. I consider them to be aligned with classic rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Pink Floyd (not musically, but you know).

Mettallica comes out with a couple not great albums, lars goes after somebody(napster) stealing out of his pocket and now everyone hates them how can u call yourself a music fan when music is about evolveing and some change CRY SOMWERE ELSE!
