| Ringo Starr ! His drum solo at the 2008 Liverpool City of Culture festival was phenomonally enjoyable. It had been rare to see Ringo soloing, until lately. He is original for a rock drummer, not for bombast, but for heavy handed solid backbeats. The drumming patterns he created on some of the most influential songs on Earth are evidence of some of his genius. But typical for a rock drummer he slipped into alcoholism, and by 1987 he was up to 18 bottles of wine a day. He completed rehab and by 1989 was back, drug free, on his first solo tour. Still many of his solo songs reference getting high, but like a good rock song it can be interpreted more than one way, so it appeals to everybody. He has been good friends with other legendary rock drummers like Keith Moon and John Bonham, even recorded with them. More recently between 1998-2008, he's recorded new songs featuring his drumming styles in different types of music with a little help from music artist friends like: Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Stewart, Alanis Morrisette, Eric Clapton, Scott Wieland, Sheila E, and Willie Nelson and others. Plus he is easygoing and full of peace and love, not afraid to show he is human like the rest of us these days. Rock on, Ringo. And thanks for doing your part to help free the weed !!! Peace and love |

| And...we just saw the Heartbeat Drummers from Japan. I'm not a drummer, but I think this should be necessary for any drummers education. Actually, just for anyone to enjoy. Unbelievable precision, discipline (what all us pot heads NATURALLY have ) and beauty. Besides being a super entertaining show. AND.... how about the Blueman Group? Not bad bashers either, on home-made equip. |
