| I absolutely love Mike Mangini. This guy is a huge inspiration for me to take the drums more seriously, and even write drum parts that can "bounce off" the guitar parts I write. Incredibly accurate, and fucking ridiculously fast, this guy has it all. Monster beats too. Last edited by Triklino : 03-06-2008 at 04:41 PM. |

| Just for laughs, my vote for most boring, unimaginative time-keepers goes to Ringo Starr Charlie Watts Wouldn't consider Max Weinberg or Nick Mason super virtuosos eitherHope I didn't piss TOO many people off ![]() |

| I don't really know any drummers but out of the ones I do know I would have to say Danny Carey is my favorite. He always creates an intense atmosphere with his drumming. Most drummers just sit there and keep a beat, but he takes it a step further.

| Always thought John Weathers of Gentle Giant was pretty underated...underrated? Whatever. He had to be a decent basher to handle the weird rhythms. |

Nick Mason? Listen to the beat on "Money" ...it's in 7/4. He masks the odd meter beautifully. He was one of the first progressive drummers, and continues to influence drummers of today, such as Mike Portnoy. Charlie Watts is the drummer for The Rolling Stones. The Stones are a classic rock band, he plays exactly what needs to be played. The Rolling Stones have released 55 albums of original work...a little experience maybe? How many bands do you know that are still together after 40+ years. He doesn't have the flashiest style but I'm sure he can tear it up when ever he wants. Ringo was great too, the part on "Come Together" is brilliant. Can't say I've listened to a whole lot of Ringo, but he definitely isn't "unimaginative." Max Weinberg...original drummer of the E street band and now plays on Conan's late show...don't need to say more, the guy obviously has his shit together. My vote would go to Meg White... ![]() | |
